Grid - how do you get it to show Water Tomb?
My guild is working on Hydross right now, and I'm one of the healers assigned to heal the Water Tomb'd people. I'm using Grid and I love it so far, but I can't figure out how to get it to display who is afflicted by the debuff. I added "Water Tomb" as a new debuff in the GridStatus menu, set the color to bright purple, set the priority to 99, but I don't see anything happening when water tomb goes on someone. Ideally, I'd even like to have the water tomb debuff icon show up on their grid squares, but even a purple dot somewhere would suffice. I tried to read the Grid Documentation but it is, shall we say, non-existent.
I suppose I could make the question more general, and ask: how do you get an arbitrary debuff to show up?

well, after some more searching, I found the answer here on the wowace forums.:
You can add your own personal selection of buffs and debuffs to Grid.
Grid -> Status -> Auras -> Add New Buff/Debuff -> Type in exact name like Last Stand
If you misspell it, it will not work.
Once they have been added, you can select to display them however you see fit. Example:
Grid -> Frame -> Center Icon -> Check Buff: Last Stand

Sorry for making a new post unnecessarily I guess.

Yep, this is a handy tip -- I would've responded myself if I'd seen this earlier. This is useful to do for things like Demon Chains on Illhoof, Tomb on Hydross, and any other such debuffs where you really don't care what the target's HP is when they're in effect, because it's a certainty that they're going to need healing right away.

I use center icons for a whole bunch of things ... MS, Web Wrap (maex), Mind Flay (c'thun trash), Garrote (Moroes), UA (heroic mech), Acid Geyser (Quagmirran), Ice Tomb (Opera ushers), Overload (Curator trash), Static Charge (Black Stalker), Brittle (Moroes trash). Basically all the stuff that Grid by design hides, but I need to know because they either should not be dispelled (UA) or need extra healing or need to be told to run away.

This was a fantastic tip, I for one am glad you posted it Some of these addons really have endless customization options, I always welcome hearing about a new angle I hadn't thought of.

Ah Grid... the good old days of pre-casting Abolish Poison on people who had the Itch debuff...

Watery Grave (morogrim, paralyzed, 5k dmg incoming), Whirlwind (leotheras, 2.5k every 3s for 15s) and Insidious Whisper (Inner Demon thingy on leo) are three debuffs you wanna add for SSC as well.

I'm not gonna start a thread for this but is it possible to remove arcane blast from the debuff list because it's really annoying at times :s

IIRC you can add a (de)buff to Grid and hide it by not attaching it to a indicator (e.g. make sure you have not checked it somewhere in the "Frame" section of Grid's configuration menu).
I did not test this but I recall reading about this in the wowace forums.

the problem is that it shows as a magic debuff. you can't really disable 'magic debuff' as a priest or you have to add every single debuff you can possibly dispell manually to your grid. if you add it manually and just put it so it does not show up anywhere, it might overwrite that. but I've not tested that and atm no slacking mage is online I could test it with. :P

idd, it's just annoying. In grid I can choose between an icon or a glow thingie in the grid window, if I choose for the icon I can't see the health of the player so that's annoying. If I choose for glow I can't see the debuff which is annoying as well.
e.g. Maiden, I need to dispell the holy fire debuff as fast a possible and it really sucks if a mage uses arcane blast. Ofcourse I could ask them to not use ab at that fight but I know how annoying it can be to not use a rotation you're used of. :p
And since I can't test it ingame atm because my other harddisk crashed I can't try it myself.

I tested this tonight and can confirm that it does work. Nice find.
