Interrupt rotation mod similar to IMBA's

Hi everyone.

I have'nt used IMBA boss mod since the Khel'Thuzad days, and to be honest, I'm quite happy with Bigwigs for now.
But one thing that I do miss alot, is the interrupt rotation part of the mod with kick/pummel cooldowns.

Seing how kickrotations are continuing to be a part of the encounter designs in tbc,
this is something that atleast I would like as a separate mod.
Is there anyone like that out there?

Or is there a way to isolate this part from IMBA?

I've seen Cryect posting here, so I take the opportunity to make a request for this, if it's not already existing.

I created an interrupt rotation mod that's still in beta. EJ readers are welcome to try it out, but no guarantees are provided.

Sweet, gonna try it out today!

You have any place where I can report eventual bugs?

Tuft, very cool stuff. I'm coming at this from the perspective of a user, so if some of my comments are difficult to implement/annoying, it's out of ignorance, not of unreasonable expectations.

1. If I pummel while a previous pummel's bar is lingering on screen, the newer pummel will not overwrite the older one. I can solve this by setting linger = 0, but it would be advantageous to have the bars linger to see who has a fresh cooldown up.

2. While I've only tried this out a bit, I imagine in a raid having 5 or more gold bars would be kinda confusing. Would it be possible to color the bars according to class, or otherwise differentiate them?

Thanks for the good work!

1. The linger function was added to allow us to see who had interrupted 'recently', i.e. a miniature history of interrupts on Aran to see what spells were hit - I imagine if you set linger to something like 15 seconds, it'll work the way you want.

2. Colored bars are doable, but a bit of work. Might be a good idea - next time I have a bit of time to kill, or if someone wants to hack it together, I'll be happy to test it and put it up.

Yeah, it would be useful to see who had interrupted recently. The problem is if I interrupt while a previous interrupt's bar is lingering, the newer interrupt doesn't log correctly. It gets ignored, with another interrupt not registering until the previous one has dropped off the screen completely.

As I can't seem to explain what's happening without using "interrupt" every other word, here's what I believe would be an easy way to replicate it: set linger to 30 or so, and use pummel/kick/whatever while a bar for that same person/ability is still up. You should get the error I'm talking about.

...from limited testing last night

This looks like it will be a very handy mod, quite frankly I'm sick of setting up whisper macro rotations and losing track.

Anyway, I've observed the same effect, the bar will seemingly not appear if the linger 'string' is the same (its kind of difficult to postan example). However, for Cormack: when it is a different string, be it wasted, parried (miss?) 2nd bar appears fine, like this:

I am not familiar with IMBA's interrupt rotation mod, so I am not exactly sure how this mod works. Does it only show interrupts for others who use this mod, or can one use it to see who is interrupting what?

Would it be possible to have a feature to pop up a raid warning only to other people with the mod enabled? Using the mod channels? I think that would be really useful.

It does no communication with other people - it only scans the combat log for activity near you and issues a raid warning to you and you alone.

Interesting, thanks for the further investigation, TX!

I've been meaning to make a stand alone just haven't been in the mood to write anything new recently (and when I've been I write something completely new normally). So glad to see others doing one.

Heh similar to haven't released a new release of IMBA because the addons are all not really release quality.

well, most of raiders from my guild use ORA2, it have self built CDs for soulstone, battle rez and other CDs... It will make me happy if anyone can tweak it to show CDs for Counterspell, kick and pummel from the members of raid.

- Fixes bug where it would not register a 'wasted' interrupt if there was already an interrupt by that player being shown.

This is a fairly subtle, but significant bug since if someone misses the timing on their interrupt, the interrupt rotation might get thrown off because people don't realize they've blown their interrupt.

You actually could... but it prolly would drive people crazy the amount of activity they are all having on their ORA cooldown bars.

This mod is really cool. I used it last night for Aran, since I'm not being in an interrupt rotation due to my cooldown, I wanted to be able to know when cooldowns were available so I wouldn't waste mine. If I can make a couple of suggestions, though:

a) The cooldown bar for each person should either disappear when the timer has finished, or something. It's odd having 2-4 empty bars on an interrupt fight, and distracts you from the info you need to know (which is simply just who is on interrupt cooldown).

b) Maybe if there was some way to customize the text on the interrupt bar as well would be sweet. A lot of the time you don't care what spell was interrupted (or what mob), but the bar has that info in it which detracts from the rest. If there could be an option to configure it -- I agree that sometimes that info is good to have, but if it were possible at other times to just show "Thrillhouse - 3s" where Thrillhouse is the character name and 3s is the cooldown remaining, that'd be sweet.

Anyway, cool mod Worked great for me.

edit - actually, just remember one weird quirk; I had a poorly timed Counterspell at one point in the night (I switched mobs to counterspell something, but mistargetted a mob that had just finished casting, and so CS didn't actually interrupt anything), and it didn't show up at all in the window. Something like "Thrillhouse's counterspell wasted on stupidity" would be nice; but it's just to have something pick up the wasted cooldown more than anything.

Set linger to 0 and cooldown bars should vanish as soon as the related abilities are cooled down. (/twiw linger 0) By default it's 30 seconds of linger time for interrupts to allow a modest form of 'interrupt history'.

Being able to change the text on the interrupt bars would be a good idea. I'll ponder it.

There's no way for it to pick up someone's Counterspell being wasted, it doesn't create a combat log event. I could maybe tap into the spell casting events, but that would only work for your own spells, you don't see other units' spell casting events.

You could catch the silence immunity if the mage has improve counterspell.

I need to do something useless.

UNIT_SPELLCAST_SENT or UNIT_SPELLCAST_START won't catch counterspell being cast by a raid member?

(i was looking into writing something like this and that seemed like the best place to start)

Right, make a little mod to show you the events and you won't see them for other people. I'm pretty sure of that, since I was trying to write something to replace Forecast.

I could detect improved counterspell's immunity, but it passes the point of diminishing returns on work done.
