Spell resisted notification mod

What I am looking to do is have something alert me when one of my spells are resisted. (if build in to SCT would be a huge plus) As a affliction lock I am casting all the time and its hard to watch my dot timers + see what spell I cast is getting resisted. Eavesdrop made it a little easier by having a icon and resist, but a lot of time there is so much action there its easy to miss.

Ideally what would be awesome is to have my upward SCT notify me of a spell resist and be able to flag it as a critical to make sure that I see it.

To note, I have tried SCTD and I can't stand it and that scrolls way to fast to rely on that for 1 message flag.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use an SCT-like mod called MSBT on my Warrior alt, though nothing of the sort on my Warlock. MSBT is much like SCT with SCTD built in, so I have outgoing damage on the right-hand side and incoming damage and heals on the left. Whenever one of my abilities gets parried, dodged, misses or glances, MSBT writes it out as "Heroic Strike (Parried)".

As I said, I haven't used it on my Warlock, but I'm fairly confident it will output things like "Corruption (Resisted)". Another cool option is that it will group damage into one line, so instead of having 3 different numbers when Whirlwind or something hits multiple targets, it will group them together and output "Cleave 1534 (2 hits, 1 crit)" which would reduce number spam from DOTs.

Basically what I'm saying is, try MSBT vs. SCT and see if it has what you want. I'm fairly confident it does. It also seems to affect performance a lot less than SCT does.

I've tried SCTD and it does in fact show all the combat scrolling including resists. The problem with that is with affliction there is so many different things scrolling, like watching the combat text a line showing resists disappears fast and is easily missed.

What I am essentially trying to do is find a way to not have all my combat scroll, all I want is a critical notification when one of my spells are resisted. (SCT critical style preferably, where it makes it ~2x larger and pins it for 2 seconds)

Sorry to derail, but can you elaborate on that? Have you seen your framerates go up, or...what?

Srg,

I am not sure why you would be interested in any resist past initial cast. I know that lock and priest dots now have partial and full resists per tick, those should be inconsequential to you. Especially on multiple mobs and even more on bosses as long as initial cast is not resisted you shouldn't worry too much about it.

If you want you could switch to the MSBT and throttle it down so it displays multiple dots as one you would see something like Corruption (x4) instead of 4 ticks of each. I think you could configure new scrolling area in MSBT to specifically display resists. I will play with that some more tonight when I get home.

Edit:

You can always unlink SCT from FPS, that should increase your performance. I can't tell which one performs better because I've upgraded my PC (running with XFX 8800 GTS 320MB). But overall I like MSBT a lot more then SCT.

I am not looking to see partial resists, just a way to have SCT flag my spell cast being resisted as a crit type of message for example...

[Icon of the Silver Cresent Gained]

Corruption Resisted <-- as a critical

[You gain Lifebloom]

etc... something like that.

Errr. And how would I do that? (I'll get out of your thread after this, I promise.) Edit: found the setting, never mind.

BTW, I waved at you in Shattrath the other night, Boomix, but I don't think you saw me

That's my line. Modify to your own taste.

MSBT seems to be better performance for me and I've always liked the customization options that it offers. As a disclaimer, the author is also a former guildmate of mine and we've talked tech on a number of occasions.

Srg, You can enable that option in SCT as far as I know.

Type in "/sct menu" and in that first window labaled "Events" you can find Spell Resists, currently it is set to show this in frame 1, however you can click a different bubble to make it show as a Crit (Stick on screen) or as a Message; which I believe is on the bottom frame

Hope this helps, if you havent already found a solution :P

IIRC, the stuff listed in the SCT options window are events that happen to you, not events that happen to mobs (which you cause) - that's what SCTD is for.
