I recently picked up the new improved eye of gruul, my plan is to use more costly spells on the proc, obviously theres a very short time to cancel a flash of light before it eats the proc so when I cant be watching my buffs (Boss fights!) I need some form of alert.

One thing I tried was to add the buff to my scrolling msbt(miks), I obviously didnt do it right as it didnt work, although I couldnt see 'You gain healing trance' in my combat log which is worrying.

The /script changes for conditional buffs makes it so I cant just add a check on my flash of light macro

So if anyone has any tips for highlighting temporary auras from passive procs with msbt or otherwise please post away!

NeedToKnow was made specifically for this kind of thing. You can set it up so a timer bar appears when the buff procs. PowerAuras works, too, but last I checked it only gave numerical timers.

DFilter is also useful for this type of information
