Hm. That's the FuBar plugin. I'm not sure what options come with that - I'll have to check.

I've had several users say they have omen but can't find the mini-map button... /omen does respond with the options you can use, but I can't find how to turn on /off the mini map button...

I can't seem to find a way to disable omen/hide the window, I only care about threat in some very specific fights and now I have to logout every time I want to use the mod.
Am I missing something? If not consider this a feature request. :p

"/omen toggle" or clicking the FuBar icon should hide the window.

Let me plug Niagara here... i LOVE that addon for configuring settings of Ace2 mods. Makes it such a pleasure to change settings instead of futzing with cascading menus.

So how is Waterfall different than Niagara? (Forgive me if this is an noob-Ace question!)

I believe Waterfall is a style/libarary menu system. Niagara is an All your configuring in one place collection of those menus.
So Omen having waterfall support means that it can have it's on flashy menu instead of expanding trees... And I believe would be automatically included in the one stop shop that is niagara.

Not sure if you're really taking "feature" requests here but in the test data if you could add something >1000 TPS and >100k threat (preferably with a decimal) for column positioning purposes that would be nice. I could do it myself but since the mod updates every 30 seconds it seems silly to edit anything

One of the biggest reactions I'm having after getting my guild to switch from KTM to Omen is their not being able to set it up to look like they want it to, or it's too big, or the text is too small (adding a text resizing option would be good, I suppose). I had 0 trouble installing and getting the mod to look great, but I suppose they didn't have the same luck as me. Could anyone list the mods (and maybe provide screenshots!) of other Threat-1.0 compatible GUIs? I 'd rather not have the prevailing reason that we go back to KTM be that they didn't like how it looked or they were too lazy to configure it to look nice.
I personally really like Omen's options and the way it looks, but eh... can't please everyone.

Some thoughts:
- Most people are going to want to view their own bar relative to the tanks by default. So make your own bar stand out more without needing tweaks?
- Having the class colors as the default on the pull-out threat bar is, IMO, ineffective, and produces a low-contrast bar for most class combinations.
- Having a way to "pull out" a threat bar by typing a name rather than having to wait until you have aggro going on, and then managing to click on the bar, would be helpful.
- By default turning down some of the jumpiness in the display
- the "header" (the omen bar itself) is very large and a waste of screen real-estate. I'm constantly annoyed that I can't make it go away or be smaller. That might not be a general complaint though, I'm a real minimalist in my UI
- having the option to view global threat instead of mob-specific may make the KTM transition far easier for some

The two I remember:
No option to scale text.
Window is too big. (It's size is fine on my end... I have it set to 1.0 scale. I don't know if it's different at other monitor sizes... I have a widescreen monitor @ 1920x1600)
I'll relay more as I get feed back from the guild. :]
Kyth's suggestions are also good ones. Defaulting Aggro Gain and the user's bar to be different than the raid would be very nice. I personally use BantoBar for default bar texture and Outline for my bar and the Aggro Gain bar. Looks really good.
Defaulting the update to .5 seconds or .25 would be good, I think. People are used to the staticness of KTM.
I also agree that the header could use some configuration. It feels somewhat disconnected from the mod, so doesn't fit in with the Squares and Rectangles feel of most UIs.
As far as having class colors by default, I definitely want to know what class is tanking the mob as I don't tend to look for the name when I want to know if it's a Warrior or Druid or Mage who has aggro at the moment. Not sure how to fix the low contrast issue though.
One final thing, if you're in a raid, you can populate Test bars, which actually grab names from the raid to do so. This way you can pull out a bar ahead of time if you like, though if you don't have 25 bars showing, that can be a hassle to find the right name. A /command might be useful in this regard.
Having a button called "KTM Style" might be good.. where it changes all the settings to make it look and feel like KTM: no bar sliding, etc etc. People are so afraid of change... we need to massage the good changes into place. :P

There are still issues with the Leotheras fight and the threat not reseting properly when he changes forms and ends his Whirlwind. Doesnt even reset if I do it manualy.

I also vote for setting the text font size independently from the overall scale.
Also, the justification of the columns could use a bit of tweaking I think.
I am VERY used to glancing at the infomation KTM style, so I have:
Name Threat % TPS
It might be nice in the Columns portion of the config to allow us to declare if a column (and its header which doesn't always line up nicely with the column contents) should be right, left or center justified.
I will always want the "last" column (TPS in my case) to be right justified, I'd want the Threat column also right justified, but I'd want the % column centered most likely, or maybe right justified.

This.
Your early adopters loved it because it wasn't like KTM, and because we like to tweak things. The rest of the masses will be using it "because someone told me to", and will take longer to explore it and learn the cool things it can do for them.
Being similar to KTM out of the box, while still having the omen features easily available, would be good.
We all have, what, going on two and a half years of experience with a tool that hasn't changed that much visually since its incarnation? That's a lot of inertia to overcome.

Not sure if this is what other folks mean by "header" but the bit above what I consider the header that says "Omen - $target" should be configurable on/off. Pretty sure I can figure out my target elsewhere in my UI

Violation, Recount and Assessment also have Threat-1.0 functionality, I'm only familiar with Recount, which has even less customizing options for looks than Omen itself does.

One thing I liked about the look of KTM is that the Text was easily legible (didn't get a lot smaller when you made the scale of the window smaller) and when I removed the viewing of TPS, the actual bar got smaller. As a DPS class, I don't care about my TPS or my %, all I care about is the actual number and where I am on the list. Being able to make it smaller and increase the size of the text would be a great plus.
Other then that, the work you and your team is doing is awesome and I hope you continue to keep it up. Besides the look of Omen, the functionality is far superior to KTM.

I'm working on a "skin" system where you can basically just store display settings and recall them at will, which means that we can also define a number of stock skins, including a KTM lookalike, a minimalist mode, an information overload mode, etc, and then point users to a quick-and-easy "click click and it's done" way to get it looking like something they like. That should help address a lot of the display customization issues, I hope.

I suggest keeping the class colors but making the key bits (aggro gain, MT, you) have a border or highlight that is obvious (and configurable of course). Class colors with a bright border stand out pretty well. Text inside of the bar for these cases could also be made different to stand out as an option.

I was testing out solo function with Omen, and found an oddity. I ran out with my Voidwalker, and face-pulled with him. I then manually cast "Torment" (VW's single target magical taunt). The first application of torment worked, and brought his threat up to 1.0k. However, subsequent torments were not applied to his threat, and neither was Suffering, his AoE taunt.
Edit: I am able to replicate this by putting my pet at neutral (not attacking the enemy), and manually casting those spells. When I tell him to attack, and he uses those spells, it affects it properly.

BEST. HUNTARD. EVER.
|
Some oddities I've noticed regarding Hunters, please disregard if they've been noted or fixed already:
(Using version 40055)
- Growl (pet taunt) doesn't seem to show up at all. It did in previous versions, but in the last few it hasn't registered at all. The only threat shown is my pet's damage dealt, and, even if I am shown as having higher threat, he will still gleefully be holding aggro due to this.
- Misdirection on anyone, be it my pet or the tank, shows the threat generated as being held by me, and not the person I used MD on.
- Distracting Shot (the flat threat generating shot that does no damage) is not showing up no matter what. I can stand with my pet tanking something, with myself not even shown on the meter, but if I spam Distracting enough, I will pull aggro, and Omen will not show me as the highest threat target (or, indeed, at all). This is also true when using Distracting in combination with Misdirection (i.e., if I use Distracting directly after applying MD to the tank, then hit the mob with two other shots, only those latter two shots register with Omen as having generated threat, and, currently, that threat is applied to myself and NOT to the tank).
|
Why Hunters suffer...
How can you help?
I can shoot things and then make my pet move toward them.
