Single buffing blessings.
Hello there!
As we all know hybrids have actually become quite hybrid here in the burning crusade. Everytime we raid and I buff my usual PallyPower order and then the pain comes...
'Why didn't you give me blessing of salvation?' (The usual DPS warrior whine)
'Omg, I'm tanking with Salvation' (Feral druids)
'Sigh, why do I always have to suffer because of the stupid shadow noobs want salvation?' (Holy Priests)
'I DON'T WANT WISDOM' (Enhancement Shamans)
That's some of the typical problems that you'll encounter as paladin during these very 'hybrid' raiding days. Because what I want or is trying to find, is a blessing mod that can sort these single-person-blessings. Would of course be awesome if it would be build-in in PallyPower but it doesn't seem to happen. I'm just usually forgetting to buff these personal blessings, or forgetting to rebuff them. PallyPower has this nice right click function that makes you able to buff the class with 5min blessings instead of Greater ones, would be nice if this function could be fx. used to these whining hybrids instead.
Anyways, it's an issue that's started to melt my brain during raiding so I really hope you can and will help out.
Thanks a lot

You can setup spellwatch to make some nifty 5 min timers with 'Blessing name > Char' on them, but its by no means as useful as PP.
Not found anything better, I usually just cast them again when i've got a free second

That's what I use as well, you get into the habit of it after a while. I always put the Greater Blessings on the one least likely to cause issues if I accidentally forget putting on another buff in PallyPower, than individually overwrite it on specific people.
The only slight addition I've made to my UI for that is using UnitActionBars to allow me to right-click someone in Grid to cast a 5-minute blessing of my choice on them. UnitActionBars isn't the most resource efficient AddOn for this though, but I can't say I care that much as my in-raid performance is just fine. Oval layout works best as far as I'm concerned, but I have 6 possible 5-minute blessings to cast that I want available this way, which is only really the case for a Protadin (I have Might, Light, Salvation, Wisdom, Kings and Sanctuary available this way).

What would be supremely awesome is something like Chicken has setup for SpellWatch (which I copied for my own setup, incidentally) where the individual + buff are shown with a timer bar - the catch is those timers linger even after the actual buff has worn off, and are clickable to refresh the buff. Anyone want to take a stab at that?

Back when blessings were 5 minute only (and I specced for 15 minute salvation!) I used WhisperCast to handle individual buffs. It was nice because it put the burden of obtaining the buff on the person who wanted it. If they couldn't be bothered to send a tell requesting a specific buff, it wasn't worth my time to worry what they might be missing. I imagine the 2.0 changes to the UI broke the functionality in combat, but out of combat it should work fine.

Is there a compelling reason that Greater Blessings don't have the option to cast on Single or Multiple targets?
I hate bugging paladins for Salv.

I hate not being real constructive here, but anyway.
The only real issue is DPS warriors and salvation. Other classes getting salv instead of whatever well they'll just have to live with it. Druids not clicking salv off - tank warriors had it down to a reflex before expansion, they'll just have to learn to click it off or tank harder.
5 minute buffs was pretty retarded you don't want to go there until they fix WhisperCast.
As with DPS warriors - I only bother on boss fights and don't rebuff midfight since the tank is supposed to be real far away at that point.

It sounds like this is half a social issue and half a technical one. Whispercast was indeed great for giving people the blessings they wanted. More to the point, it put the responsibility for individual blessings and expirations on players. There was a lot less whining that way back in the old core days.
I really think you can insist on a certain level of decorum before you go out of your way to interpret and fulfill other people's whine requests.
There used to be another addon that was part of Cosmos (I think?) where you set up your per class buffs and just hit a key repeatedly till the raid was done. For some reason Blizzard broke this functionality.

One other thing: people don't always understand how greater blessings work. Often I used to hear "can we get salvation in group 2" because folks thought it worked like Gift of the Wild or Arcane Brilliance.
Rather than make a new post here's an edit to a thread at the Ace forums:
http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?topic=6260.0
Wherein they discuss mods like what you're talking about and the possibility of reviving one called ChatCast or writing new ones. One interesting note is that such mods can only work out of combat now, not in combat.

I've been looking around for something to help organize buffs for a while. The best I've been able to find is Cirk's Blessings. It allows you to specify buffs at several levels of granularity (overall, class and per-person). The functionality is similar to that of SmartBuff, in that you can click a button or hit a hotkey that will buff the "next person on the list". So you pretty much spam that button and everyone eventually gets the buff they need. It is somewhat intelligent about greater blessings vs. 5-minute ones as well, though I have run into a problem or two.
I recently stopped using it because I was running into a bug that made it all but worthless. But lo and behold, I check the page for the link for this post, and what do I see?
2.1.0
* Fixed a bug where failed casts weren't properly setting up the next cast, resulting in you being "stuck" attempting to cast on the same player target forever, or until you succeeded.
* Fixed several small bugs relating to the greater-blessing decision logic, and with correctly setting up the next blessing when leaving combat.

So I will be trying the new version tonight. It doesn't have any tracking functionality, so you'd still need to use Spell Watch or similar for that. It also isn't Ace2, if that is a big turn-off for you. For me, the lack of shared libraries is more than offset by keeping my hair in raids.
I'd really like to see an addon which combined the tracking of PallyPower with the granularity of Cirk's Blessings, all wrapped up in an Ace2 package. Throw in some WhisperCast style functionality for setting who gets what buff, and you'd have a pretty robust solution.
I've also tried SmartBuff, but I found the way it used inclusion and exclusion lists cumbersome.

On a related topic: Warlocks have been bugging me for Kings (in case of Demonology Locks) or
Wisdom (Affliction/DP Locks) for their beloved pets for a while now, but with the 2.1 changes to
Beastmastery i get an increased number of "Could my pet get Might/Kings please?" requests
from our Hunters.
I didnt really bother buffing hunterpets in the past, since they mostly did pathetic damage
(we didnt have a single Beastmaster Hunter in our guild since back in MC or so) or die
to the first Cleave anyway. But with the recent changes the situation has somewhat changed.
So my question: can anyone recommend a BuffMod that supports different types of pets (if that
is at all possible, i dont know if the client can distinguish a Hunterpet from a Warlockpet)?

I've tried FuBar_PaladinTimerFu over the last couple of days, and it seems like it can track both major and minor blessings. It will tell you that you've got blessing of salvation going and start a five minute timer with the name of whoever you've salved, same goes for greater blessings. It will not, however, start two separate timers for one blessing; say I put salvation on a rogue and a warrior, it'll show a five minute salvation timer and the name of the first person I've cast it on.
It'll also track pretty much every other pally timer out there, vindication, seals, whatnot.

Cirk's Blessings was linked a few posts back and has this listed as a feature:
|
Supports blessing of pets if the pet's owner is on the blessings list (Might or Wisdom, automatically selected depending on the pet type).

I don't see why they can't make the single target blessings longer, eg 15min instead of 5, we've only been asking for this common sense change since release so don't hold your breath though. It took alot of complaining to get greater blessings added back in the day.

So true. I hate hybrids with a passion ever since we started 25 man raiding with them.

I get annoyed by this as well. I usually just ignore the person and tell them to deal with it :> probably not the most appropriate approach.
Thanks for recomending the new blessings mod, i'll be sure to give it a try tonight .

To be honest, the hybrids have a valid point.
A shadow priest and a holy priest are NOT the same role.
A boomkin is NOT a feral is NOT a resto druid.
A enhancement is NOT an elemental is NOT a resto shaman.
A protection is NOT a holy is NOT a ret paladin.
And every bit of buffs a demonology warlock gets increases their spell damage. And BM hunters are topping the charts now, and their pet is a significant chunk of their dps, so they are somewhat justified in asking for buffs for their pets.
I understand how annoying this is to buff, but they do have a justifiable request. I'm letting our paladins know about Cirk's, as right now they just manually overwrite the buffs. We run with 4 paladins, so usually every 15 minute you can ask for is up, and then they just manually modify it.

Yeah, pally buff can be a pain in the rear.
Why isn't there a addon like the good old "WhisperCast"?
