If you look up the armory though, he is a male troll.

I know I've heard of this sort of thing where you edit some of the game files and it only shows up for you.

Anyone have any information or a link about how to do this?

It'd be nice if I didn't have to carry around so many noggenfogger just because I rolled the wrong faction.

The information is "Don't do it." It's asked almost daily (sometime more than daily) on the official UI forums. It has always been against the TOS and it is currently deliberately difficult to do (and potentially detectable by warden). The same method that would allow model changing can also be used to exploit the game.

I believe the Area 52 / Toshley Station Transporters (from Engineering) cause you to appear as a different race when they "backfire" after use.

That's very much true. We have a tauren hunter (Hoff) who always shows up as Draenei, hehe.

If I remember right, it was always against the ToS the only thing that changed is they made it harder for you to do it and less of a gray area on if it'll get you banned.

This never was used to exploit the game afaik. And as well,yea it is harder now then before,but still doable. And as well - warden doesnt detect this. Or they do not consider this as important issue.

I didn't say warden did detect it, merely that it has the potential to do so. Also, you are wrong about it not being used to exploit the game; collision detection is client-side, and people replaced the simple campfire (created by cooking) with a giant staircase. Voila, floating players.

Did you somehow miss all of Overrated getting banned for skipping to C'Thun with a model swap?

They actually loaded a patch into the game files, though... was that simply a model swap?

They replaced the model for the temple with a much smaller model, and then fell through the area where the temple normally would be.

I've never actually seen Blizzard take action on anyone who does any form of model changing unless it has been on stupid things (Like making the AB gates at the beginning just a set of stairs...)

The Overrated case was more than obvious to track, and was pure exploiting, where as someone who wants to be a different race doesn't exactly cause much harm to the game (at all.)

Either way, if Gurg and so on think it is okay for me to post it, I will put up a full guide here with the applications needed to do it :P

Plus someone was brilliant enough to leak the Overrated video to YouTube. Although I don't know if that happened before or after they were banned.

There was a similar video doing the same thing so people could turn in their drops for their weapons. But I think they figured out what they were doing from their dkp page. Skerem then Cthun every week.

It was. That was (at the time) the only way you could still change models.

I wouldn't be surprised if the same basic method still works, though as others have said, I'd recommend not doing it... It requires some third party programs to do, which is simply not clever.

Hypocrisy to its best. How is swapping the AQ40 temple model with the ZG temple model any different than swapping the Troll model with the Undead model?
Any modification to the mpq files is considered breaking the EULA.

It may be less game breaking, but there is absolutely no difference in the actions.

Still the exact same thing. A raid of gnomes is worlds apart from a raid of tauren.

Also remember, it's rather obvious something is going on if you're killing C'Thun which requires you to kill about 5-6 other bosses just to reach him.

It's against the ToS/EULA/Whateverlegaldocument, end of story.

To my knowledge, gnome and likewise do not share the same modelbox, which is why, in my history, I have noticed a gnome trying to exploit something rather than, say, a tauren. This goes the same for walljumping, ect. At the end of the day, it's still against the TOS, so stay away from it.

You know a little about the actual models itself,try to make swap of "AQ40 temple" model,if you will find any.

I used to swap my weapon models, but nowadays it's become such a hassle to do so that I really don't think it's worth it :P.

I could fix you a link to forums where it's explained how to do it, but as many, I would not recommend it.
