The Overrated case was more than obvious to track, and was pure exploiting, where as someone who wants to be a different race doesn't exactly cause much harm to the game (at all.)

Either way, if Gurg and so on think it is okay for me to post it, I will put up a full guide here with the applications needed to do it :P
It may sound stupid but if you change for example a Tauren with a 2H staff to a gnome with a 2H staff, the former gets stuck sometimes in door frames, the latter wont. Now while THAT is harmless, there are houndreds of situations where modelchanging does alter the game in a more relevant fashion.

It is exploiting, no matter how minor your change is. It changes client behavior. And it gives you a perma-ban without recourse if you get caught.

If it were only an optical fun thing to do, well cool, but as it is, I wouldn't post anything about it at all and especially not advertise its use. It's game changing and it's exploiting. You get banned. I think not much more need to be said.

Seems as I got no response from Gurg (or at least that's who I think I messaged) regarding me posting the guide, it's available at:

MANIQ IS AWESOME AND LIKES COOKIES AND BEER BUT NOT AT THE SAME TIME.

Don't PM me asking questions, don't reply to me asking questions, if you can't do it by yourself you're not the type of person who should be even attempting to.

If any of the moderators feel this is wrong, just delete the post at your will and shout at me in PM

As a somewhat concrete object-lesson, a friend of mine did this, out of sheer curiosity and an apparent desire to be undead, and he got banned -- like within the last couple of weeks. He wasn't even aware of the more malicious applications of swapping models -- he was just messing about with his own toon. But Blizzard doesn't care what you're doing or why, if you're swapping models, they'll ban you. It's really not worth it.

They cracked down on it rather hard after what Overrated did, but the people I have done this for have never been banned for doing this crap, I guess some people just get unlucky.

I myself have never had any need to change a rather large model, just armor pieces for when I got bored of what I was wearing, and even that that was around 9 months ago :P

This isn't a good idea, never has, never will be.

Also editted out the link to the howto - Lets not be amusing and quote it etc.

Thanks!
