UI Suggestions

Hey there

basically I'm really confused to what addons to use. I have a UI that is useable at the moment and tracks everything I need but it does not look that great or anything special and looks a bit cluttered.

I really want to free up some screenspace.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and I'm not looking for someone to design me a UI but merley give me some information on addons that I could use.

Here are some screenshots:

Raid/Combat:

As you can see I have alot of stuff going on.
Part of my problem has been finding a UI that offers me a good range of buttons. If you look at my interface you can see I require quite alot of buttons and that is where the main problem is.

Addons I use:

Any suggestions / help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks very much

First suggestion is to grab a bar mod. Bartender and Bongos are the two most complete. This allows you to size/group buttons. You don't have to have a button visible to use it if key bound.

Geist is nice addition for infrequently used buttons. It shows a group of buttons when you press a keybind.

Looks like you are running SCT or Miks SBT. Either way if you have that information available you probably don't need you combat log visible. Just dock it with your other chat frame. If you are looking through it for information you are probably dead or out of combat. (I would probably scale the font down and change the font.)

Really don't need damage meters shown when you are in combat. (just hide it)

There is a mod that collects buttons on your minimap in one button. (you can pull out ones you don't want to get grouped) This can make your minimap less clutered. I would probably suggest skinning your minimap as I think square (scaled down) minimaps give you just as much information and take up less space.

Could probably use some custom unit frames as well. (x-perl, aguf, pitbull, etc) for player/target/tot/focus/focus target. All of these usually convey the same (and better) information in tighter space.

I would just work on one thing at a time. It can get overwhelming if you try to install too much at once. I have found barmods to be the most time intensive in setting up properly.

First off thank you very much for your response and I will look into bongo's. However you mention about this addon compiling all your minimap buttons into one? Could you possibly give me a link too this if it not too much trouble.

Also the square minimap. I've seen quite a few of those in screenshots but yet I cannot find a addon that will change it. Again if it is not too much of a problem could you link me one.

Thanks very much

There are several skinners for minimaps. I use RicoMiniMap because it is Ace and easy to update.

If possible I would increase your ingame resolution and decrease your UI scale as low as it can go. That will free up lots of room.

Unless you're a raid leader, you don't really need to see who's alive in your raid. I have 0 raid monitoring addons, myself, and don't feel the need to get one. :] That will free some in raid space.

Everyone wants to be like Kerp now. ;p Nice UI overhaul, nevertheless. It looks pretty solid.

It's pretty funny to see that not even a UI-pack-maker know of the parent function in eePanels :p

Bartender, Pitbull, FuBar for starters.

Quartz for a great casting bar.

Morganti's Buffbars for great buff/debuff icons/bars/timers.

That's how I built my UI.

The really nice thing about all of these addons is that they autodetect for class. Meaning you can make class specific UI's that work across all characters of the same class.

What's the mod that does the cooldown monitor for you in the bottom left there?

coolDown.

All these people who love this UI ask the exact same question, you think you'd actually start looking at the other people's questions where I answer by now, but heh.

What's the bar on the right hand side just above the minimap showing available cooldowns?

You must be referring to jaymz404's post and not mine. So, sorry I don't have an answer for you despite the question being targeted at me.
