Addon for afk

I was thinking now when the vacations are starting and there will inevitably be some people going away for holidays or just a trip abroad. To keep track of this I was thinking of some sort of addon connected to a database, similar solution as any dkp system. Everyone with the addon installed can just ingame open it up and mark the dates he/she will be gone.

The information gathered in this addon will be imported to a database where it will be shown as a normal calendar displaying info about how many people that is afk, which class etc.

Think of it as an outlook calendar for an entire guild.

I would think that if you could implement this system for any guild it would be great help for the officers, especially on a bit more hardcore level.

The users should also be able to use the url to access their account and just fill in which dates and times they will be unable to play.

Now for the real issue, I cant code anything nor do I even have the knowledge to create this system. But this is a pretty big world we are living in so Im hoping that someone already have created this system or will feel an urge to create it.

So, basically anyone heard/know/will make this system?

And while Im at it, do you think it would be as usefull as I am imagining?

Hm, I haven't heard of such an addon yet, but as a workaround, simply let those players write their vacation times in a seperate forum thread. Of course somebody has to summarize these entries, but officers don't have much to do anyway.

Item Ranking Rogue [horribly outdated]

Ye, the extra forum thread is a solution but I was thinking a bit more sophisticated one that will also help take off some workload of the officers once its implemented.

There's an addon called Group Calendar that sets up a syncrhonized calendar for the guild. We're using it as a method of signups (if people would actually sign up on it...) but it could easily work as a vacation notifier. Some people just can't get it to work, though. I don't know if it's being difficult or if they're a little less than addon savy.

I think this (click me!) may be what you're looking for. My old guild used this for awhile and it worked out pretty well (while people actually used it.) It basically allows everyone in your guild to share a calendar where you can set up events (raids, guild meetings, etc.) and people can either just view than, sign up for them, or say they won't be able to attend.

Aranan: The version on WoW Interface is an older one from February. The link above from Curse has the latest release.

Do any of the notepad-type addons have a feature to share pages among guild members (or anyone?).

I'm using an old version of TinyPad right now and I thought it served my needs until I saw this thread. Sharing notes would be excellent

Its interesting of course witht hose addons that works as a shared calendar for the guild, its something I was thinking about, however when you play hc you will always have players online and will have a hardtime getting everyone to signup. However Ive noticed that it's easy to get people to tell when they are afk.

The group calendar is a step in the right direction, however I would love to see features like that you can just clikc on a specific day and choose afk. Then the officers wont have to put up events etc for it. If you also could import that calendar into a database and be able to put it on a website it would be perfecct for what I was looking for Think I might just have to learn coding myself and develop it...
