I use Bartender3 to take care of my buttons, and Pittbull for unit frames. I am not very happy with how limiting auras are in Pitbull, in terms of placement. Is there a good addon for handling buffs and debuffs based on player/target/focus, etc?
I want to be able to position them anywhere on the screen mostly.
Something I'm interested in is a mod that notifies my party of cooldown remaining on certain things like Bloodlust or Drums of Battle, is there something like that out there?
[e] Not just a "hey I just used this ability" mod, but one that will do /party %Time remaining on next bloodlust"
Cooldowntimers2 have group memebers cooldowns, but i think everyone have to install it. You can find it on wowace.
I hope this "OMG I NEED A DAMAGE METER" post stands out from the others...
At the moment, I use Recap, and I find the evaluation tools amazing. I don't know where I'd be if I wasn't able to analyze why Warlock #2 was sucking so terribly (oh hey look- he's using Drain Life as part of his attack rotation) or why the Shaman had 90% mana at the end of that boss fight (oh hey look- five procs of EoG or something).
I've ran the gamut of damage meters and I've always settled on Recap; however, there has always been one feature that has eluded me.
As you can see in this Lurker video (combat doesn't start until about a minute into the video) from the constantly-changing colors in his damage meter, his damage meter dynamically changes the ranks as they happen; unlike Recap, which waits until combat is over to update. Similar to what I said earlier, I want to know information sooner. I still run WWS on top of Recap, but Recap let's me see the analysis I want to see, before the night is over. Now, I want to have this meter showing me who's pulling their weight as a fight progresses and who's not, before the fight is over. Afterwards, I can still go to town with Recap.
Can anyone pin a name to that meter (or any meter, for that matter) which will dynamically update? Hell, if Recap can do it, that'd be even better.

You didn't list the ones you'd tried. I'm not really prepared to download a video on my connection but the first one that comes to mind is Recount, secondly is Assessment which has similar functionality but is a lot lighter. Assessment just shows the information, it doesn't draw pretty graphs. There are a myriad of others floating around but thats the best I can offer without more information.

Yah that's not quite what I'm looking for, it would work well enough if I had all the shaman install it as I could see the Bloodlust cooldowns. But what I want is something that every 2 min spits out a message, without me having to do anything, to my party and to the shaman chat channel saying "Malan's Bloodlust has X min Y seconds on Cooldown" and "Malan's Drums of Battle has X min Y seconds on Cooldown" that way my party can plan ahead on cooldown usage around those abilities.
I've been watching a few Warrior PvP videos lately, and i've noticed that some scrolling combat texts a few people use comes up with "Mace Stun!" whenever mace stun procs. I've used MSBT and Parrot, and neither of them comes up when my mace stun procs.
I am currently a maintank of a guild on my warrior character. And while raiding on this shaman, our maintank always knew exactly why and how the other tanks died in terms of combat log. He was also able to monitor things like thunderclap and demo shout, though that could've been him watching the debuff list closely.
Now that I am maintanking I want to be able to monitor combat like that. Know what hit me. However, I cant find that tank online so cant ask what addon he used. Does anyone know of a similar addon?

Debuff Filter will allow you to filter out important debuffs to watch the icons of: Debuff Filter | Curse
Tscullor: Parrot at least has a place to enter custom event notifications. Find out how the Mace Stun shows up in the Combat log and try entering that.
Arakan: Both Recount and Assessment (two damage meter style addons) have death breakdowns where they show the last few hits and the remaining health of a player along with a timestamp. Assessment has a particularly nice set of bars showing the tank's health after each event with the change highlighted and colorcoded (red for damage, green for heals). This allows you to quickly see what went wrong, whether it is a lack of healing, burst damage or a missed block leading to a crushing. There was also a dedicated addon for this that I used a while back but I've forgotten the name of it now.
I belive it only shows up as an "XXXX is afflicted by Mace Stun".
Is that possible to do via Parrot? Sorry, i'm not very savvy on the whole UI customization thing. I can move my frames and change my bars fine, but when it comes down to stuff like this, i'm fairly ignorant.
I would love if I could do it through parrot, as I really like the layout and the fact that it uses icons. Even though every time I see the cyclone icon I want to punch a baby.

You can find out how people died by using Expiration (Ace2), Recount (Ace2 damage meter with a difference) or GrimReaper (part of the X-Perl bundle), there are other addons but from my knowledge, those are the big ones.
Monitoring debuffs on a mob can be done with Debuff Filter or Demon.
Looking for this mod that makes minimap icons to look like squares:
I'm taking the liberty of bumping this question. Someone posted that the map mod is simpleMinimap, but I don't get how the buttons are made squareish. It isn't a squeenix feature is it?

If you like the bar style (de)buff timers, try Quartz:

I'm not 100%, but I'd put money on the bars you are referring to actually being Omen's, which is a threat meter. This doesn't answer your real question though, and I'm afraid I don't know of any damage meter that behaves as you describe.
It's probably worth putting a feature request into the various forums / addon homepage comments / email inboxes of the relevant addons and authors of whichever damage meters you'd use, though.

Well, I think he is talking about the bars on the right side. You can see KTM on the left so I doubt that the person in the video is using both KTM and Omen. Other than that though, I have no idea what is on the right side. I use Recount and I guess it looks similar, but I am not sure at all.

Help would be much appreciated.
The only addon I know that is able to squarify minimap buttons is Skinner:
The effect you're talking about looks like it's just an outline (fonts can be set to use either a normal outline or thick outline). There's also a shadow effect that can be set in Prat (I'm sure CF2 also, but I haven't looked at Design.lua close enough to say for sure).
cheers,

How can you tell it's Omen, please?

Edit: Guess it is Swstats then.
That would make more sense. Apologies for my misinformation - after reading TheSilverHand's original post I was looking for a "constantly chang"ing set of bars, which the SWStats bars are; just not nearly as frequently as KTMen's.
cheers,
