No amount of distance information will ever give you direction.
Well, you would also be able to factor in who they aren't 15 yards away from. Depending on the fights, potentially you could figure it out.

What I do when I'm trying to find someone that needs heals or something is highlight them and look for the green circle on the ground. Would there be a way to adjust that, the graphics you get when you highlight someone? Maybe add something similar to a hunters mark, or a raid icon, but client-side, so its only you that can see it? That would be an easier way to see someone, assuming that you are in LOS of them, and it wouldn't require any range or position checking.

No, there is no situation where you can turn any amount of distance information into a direction without either two known locations or a known direction.

The UI has no way to know where objects (including players) are on screen. This could still be done in two ways, though: edit the model for the targeting circle (violation of ToS), or add target guessing code to the nameplates, where it'd try to do something different if the nameplate was for the same unit as your target. Of course, this'd be useless, as it'd only work within nameplate range.

Like Shalas said, there is no possible way to produce an addon that provides some type of waypoint or indicator to your target. You'll just have to ask them to ping or to tell you their position by a landmark.

It doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me, really.

Furthermore, if this would help any, I would recommend getting ImprovedCamera2, which makes your camera able to zoom out 20 units farther, so you can possibly see where your target is without asking?

Nice, I might have to try that mod out. I've always wanted a table-top view of the field, especially for things like the Prince fight.

if you're comfortable with modifying your config.wtf file, you don't need an addon to do this.

Either find or add the following line:

SET cameraDistanceMax ##

## would be the camera distance you want. I believe it caps at 50 and default is 20.

This was ths solution I used, till I got annoyed at the game resetting it. ImprovedCamera2 is a fire a forget solution.

The game never resets it. At least not if you set it when not playing, and in the actual file.

If you run something like /console SET ... then yes it will reset every restart.

If you set it in the actual file however it will stay that way until you change it again.

edit:
oTweaks does the camera setting too, as well as all of the combat log changes :P
