I've created a modified layout that groups classes more intelligently with tanks, healers, and dps so I can more easily roll life blooms and not have people moving around when the shamans are swapping for bloodlust. The problem I'm having is that I can only sort by name and by index. Any ideas on a way to sort by class, then by name if my filter includes more than one class? Would I just have to override the default sorting method and add my own code to allow a class sort as well?

Try GridDynamicLayout, it sorts your raid in tank, dps melee, dps ranged and heals, secondary sort by class

Why do i wanna change from healbot to grid ? I've been using healbot for .... so long thah i can't remember ;-) It's really so much better, and why ? In healbot i just click on the target that i wanna heal/decurse ... in grid i got to get mouse on that target and then click on bind/macro, can't i just use my mouse like in healbot ? point and click ;-)

Just get Clique to go with Grid, and you can do the same thing, with much more flexibility (like being able to click on regular target frame et cetera).

Nobody wants you to change anything, if you're comfortable with healbot then use healbot...

My post from that hardware thread on how I heal with Grid....
Definitely need to try out that "Sandio 3D Mouse"..
Currently using new newer [Logitech G5 Laser Mouse] and not sure I need to have much more at my fingertips.
Playing a holy priest atm and have 9 spells bound to my mouse all with a one button push to cast using Grid and mouseover macros.
Greater Heal 1 - left tilt mouse wheel
Greater Heal 3 - right tilt mouse wheel
Greater Heal 7 - move wheel back
Flash Heal - move wheel forward
Renew - push wheel down
PoM - back left side button
Dispel Magic or Remove Disease - front left side button
Prayer of Healing - first button behind the wheel
Binding Heal - second button behind the wheel
not sure their is a efficient setup for healing in my book....if so I am willing to change
also using Clique to bind offensive spells to the mouse to cast on enemies only and [Fang Gamepad] on my left had for a few keybinds and movement.

Is there any way to get a plug-in or something to get a configuration mode for Grid like there is in pitbull?

There is not, joining AV should work well enough though.
(the long reason is somewhere in the Grid thread on Wowace, it has something to do with Grid using Blizzard's SecureHeader templates which do not allow such a configuration mode easily.)

Soulstone Resurrection Icon not showing.
I use Grid to stay informed primarily, and have been experiencing trouble getting GridStatusRes (referred here on out as GSR) to function properly.
GSR depends on LibResComm-1 which i have in my \interface\addons directory.
I am familiar with setting priorities in Grid, and have turned all priorities down below the status of "Soulstone Resurrection" (the status I am particularly interested in atm, nice for a lock to know who is stoned.)
Other Grid "plugins" installed (perhaps a conflict I cannot pinpoint?) are:
GridAlert
GridAutoFrameSize
GridStatusRaidDebuff
Thanks.

You probably don't want to sign your posts.
The soulstone status only shows up when someone is dead and can pop using a soulstone or ankh. Also be sure to assign the status to an indicator (like center text or a corner indicator).

Bad etiquette?.... *EDIT* Yes. Forum rules + regulations, quite clear. My apologies to all. Let the mockery begin.

As my goal is to know who is "soulstoned," at any given moment, would it be possible to track the Soulstone Resurrection buff, via some alternative method?

You should be able to just set up a standard buff/aura for the name "Soulstone Resurrection". You could then set this to display in a corner icon or whatever, and see whoever has the soulstone buff at the moment.

I'm having one annoying but harmless problem with Grid.
When I join a raid (BG or instance) mouseover tooltip from Grid shows the normal player tooltip, as in name, level, race, class and the healthbar. But straight after I either zone in or get killed, the toolip will start saying "Player Options: Right-click to see..." and so forth. This state stays until I leave the raid and form a new one until, of course, I die or zone.
Grid version: 76416
Other Grid addons enabled:
GridStatus HostileUnit
GridStatus IncomingHeal
GridStatusAFK
GridStatusMTs
Options on Layout:
Clamped to screen - enabled
Frame Lock - enabled
Click through the Grid Frame - enabled (Tried disabling this, didn't help)
Addons which tinker with tooltip:
CT2 (Option to set the tooltip to anchor to mouse)
Gymnast
WowEcon (Adds the price info to tooltip)
RatingBuster
This little doozie has bugged me since I switched to Grid about 3 months ago, I updated it through WoWAceUpdater as long as it was possible. Anyone have an idea how could I get the normal player tooltip to be shown instead of the huge "Player Options..." info-tooltip?

I don't know if you use CowTip since you didn't mention it, but I had the same issue before and it was actually a setting on CowTip under Show Tooltips. I had to set it to always show unit frames.

Hi.
I have a serious problem with grid, not sure if this is the place to post though. Anyways here it comes.
On every computer I install grid on, with GridStatusRaidDebuff the debuffs never show up in the raids. This is catashtropic, I can never see any debuffs in the raids. It works fine in heroics and in the normal world, but when I enter BT or MH (or any other raid instance) grid never shows the debuffs. Since im getting this problem every time I try to reinstall it, surely more ppl must have the same and know about a fix. It used to work on one computer a little while ago but doesnt work there either anymore.
Thnx in advance.

Do people use the GridStatusControlPipes addon for Grid? If so, what kinds of things do you use it for?
I've loaded it and keep it up-to-date, but haven't really figured out a use for it. I get the feeling that I'm not being creative enough in my thinking. (Or is it simply a technology demonstration that no one else has found a use for either?)

Regarding Grid + Pets, In a group of five people + one pet I get one row of six boxes. What I would like is one row of players and on top of that another row with pets. ie.
x
ooooo
Where 'o' is a player and 'x' is the pet of the first player.
I've tried both group 5 w/pets and group 10 w/pets with the same result. Ofcourse this would only be usable in a 5man group which is where I'm interested in having pets. In raids I dont care much for them (yet)
Does anyone have a hack to this or am I simply missing something? I tried searching this thread but didn't come up with anything.

"Player Options: Right-click to see..."
The above tooltip is caused by the Blizzard "Beginner Tooltip" option acessable by hitting "Escape > Interface > Help > Beginner Tooltips."
Hope this helps!
