Make sure the priority for the soulstone status is above the death status. And yes, they need either CTRA, oRA2, sRaidFrames or GridStatusRes for the communication to work.

'k, that works; I hadn't realized that you're only meant to see it on dead members.
Ty!
(but I still got the not-in-range-dead-bodies, can anybody help with that?)

Minor issue with the setup of GRID.
I am unable to move the raid Frames to a particular spot on my screen. I make sure that the "Lock Frames" is unchecked. I've tried while in a group and while solo. I've also "reset position" and now its just stuck in the middle of my screen and am unable to move it.
This is the latest download off of cursegaming.
Anyhelp would be great.

What I'd love to do in grid is have the color and alpha of the health bar be usable as a status indicator. For example, a more graceful way of doing out-of-range fading would be to only fade the health bar, not the whole frame. That way side and corner icons stay fully visible. You could also do stuff like color a health bar red when it's got Dark Barrage, Bloodboil, etc. This would be a very helpful and stylish indicator, if it's possible.

To move grid, you have to click in the space between frames, not on the unitframes themselves. If you have Padding and/or Spacing set to 0, try setting them to 2 or 3 and then moving Grid.

Yes! My padding was set so there was no free space. You're the man!

I have no idea how to search for this, but maybe someone here knows what to do besides "put up with it". When I try to keep a rolling lifebloom on one of the tanks, it shows the countdown timer for everyone else, but this tank. No matter what I use, Pitbull, Grid, Lifebloomer, the only way if I can see how much more time they have on their LB, I have to select the target and quatrz tells me. He says it has something to do with his name which starts with Pet, and something that has to do with Ace, but is there something someone has done for this?
Thanks in advanced!

GridStatusMTs Status?
I'm unable to get GridStatusMTs to work (to show tanks), I know I had it working at some point months ago. It doesn't show me the options under layout to use Ora2 tanks, like the screenshots seem to suggest it should. I do get the option of selecting 25/Tanks but that just gives me 2 extra columns and doesn't display any Ora2 tanks. I update compulsively with WAU so I should have the newest one.
Is this currently broken? Ora2 is working ok.

I've been having a bit of an issue with my grid + clique combo lately. The "mouseover" part of the function seems to stop working randomly. Rather then just hovering over my heal target and shift-right mouse button to heal, I have to hit the buttons then click on my target to get the heal to cast.
I've had this happen at random times in the past and it always seemed to fix itself in a minute or so, so it wasn't a big deal. We're working on Felmyst now though and this seems to happen every time we go into Phase 2, which is annoying. Any ideas/solutions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I use the Hotcandy add on for this. (got mine through Ace) It doesn't work "within" grid. But instead lists all those you have hots on and how many. You can move, re-size, and adjust the bars on it. I have tried about 10 methods of tracking hots--and I found this one was THE best for Resto druid healing.
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Grid...but never found a hot tracker that worked with it to my liking. I still use grid-- just use this with it.

I'm having trouble with GridStatusChainRule . I downloaded the mod, removed the two folders from the main folder and installed in my Add-ons folder (not inside the Grid folder). I then got some other raid members to do the same. I made sure the mod was enabled and set the priority to 99. However, I do no see any colors indicating the rank of chain heal or the number of targets it will hit. Anyone have a similar problem?

Is there any way to make Alpha Frame completely transparent? I want to make it so when raid member is out of range I wouldn't be able to see him at all rather than have him half transparent.
Also, is there a way to make Grid show more that just 4 first letters of name?

Health and transparency of bars
Hate to ask a question that was answered before, but its gotten so frustrating and I think it is because of my french version of grid, that I can't find how to do certain things.
I am having a problem with transparency of the health bar too, while keeping the class colors.
Priority 1 - I want the health bar to be at an alpha of 25% when health is greater than 98% (in otherwords, fully opaque as soon as they start taking any damage -
Secondarily, I want th health bars to become transparent when people are out of range 40 meters or more --
- almost full health = transparent. AND out of range = transparent using class colours
No problem with AFK, off line, dead status, because there is an alpha scale slider for colors other than the class colours.
I read a post where you can edit the range status indicator lua, but for the transparent if full health I am lost (I see it on other peoples UIs however.
I have spent so much time fooling around with this maybe it is a probleme with priority settings. So I probably should start from scratch.
Could anyone help me with this (it might help the person above for his 100% transparency too ) ? And maybe indicate certain rules on priority settings if needed.
THX so much in advance but I've searched for hours and the french to english is killing me lol.

Go into the menu for setting the color and there is an Opacity slider.
I don't think this is possible with the add-ons I have now but I'd really like to have Grid be able to completely remove certain people from the raid/group. Right now I have it so that anyone with the buff "Phase Shift" (Imps) are at a low alpha value so I don't have to see them but I'd rather they just not take up space on the grid at all. I know I can remove pets but I'd like to be able to keep Hunter and other Warlock pets on it as they occasionally need healing.

Are you certain that it was assigned to an indicator type (i know health bar color and border color have been working okay for me)? For the targeting recommendations to display anything, a fairly complicated set of conditions have to be fulfilled (meets efficiency cutoffs, targets have taken some dmg, targets are within 10yds), but the density indicator should be okay to test. Check to make sure that the colors you've set don't have 0% alpha. The mod should work for your frame even if no one else has it as long as you're in a BG, party, or raid. When you join a raid/party/BG, check to make sure that a message saying "Sending Updates" appears in your chat log. This indicates that the helper is running.
I'm not really sure what else to guess at this point. Let me know if you make any progress/find get any more info on the conditions that might be affecting this.

This isn't Grid-specific, but it mainly involves Grid. I'm pretty sure I've seen discussion of this issue in the past, but I don't know that I've ever seen a conclusive answer.
I use Clique with Grid in order to heal. I have Clique binds like Shift+LeftClick casting LHW, Ctrl+LeftClick casting HW, etc.
At seemingly random points, but more often in PvP than in raids, my Clique setup will get "stuck" and trying to Shift+LeftClick a Grid frame give me a "gray hand" cursor as though it wants me to select the target for my spell, but clicking again on my intended target still won't make the spell actually cast. This only happens when clicking on Grid frames in particular. When this happens I need to mash Esc a couple of times in order to get things back to normal. In the middle of an arena match this is obviously a terrible thing.
Does anyone have any insight into what causes this or how it can be fixed?

Late to the thread here, but I wanted the same sort of thing, and didn't find it (I'm not the usual MA, but I'm usually the herder of DPS). So below, find GridStatusAssisting.lua, aka Noam's Herder:

I don't claim it's the most optimized code, but it worked well in the tests I did on it the last few days. I usually run a very limited number of grid modules, and assign this one to a high priority for a corner icon. But there's nothing to prevent it from doing a border or any other visual cue a module could provide.

From my own experience, I suspect the game engine erroneously thinks that a state key is pressed when it's not. As you use shift and ctrl, as I do, the problem is the state of the alt key. Pressing and releasing the alt key as corrected similar problems for me.

Do you alt tab in windowed mode on Windows Vista? This causes my alt key to lock up which may cause that for you.

I wanted to get rid of the yellow mouseover highlight on Grid, and I found a simple lua change that makes it happen. Search GridFrame.lua for
f:SetHighlightTexture("Interface\\QuestFrame\\UI-QuestTitleHighlight")
and change it to
f:SetHighlightTexture(1,1,1,0)
No more ugly yellow frame highlighting on mouseover!

Hello,
I am having problems with GridStatusRaidDebuff.
I can't let it show 2 different raid debuffs on 2 different places, where with a prio version I could.
I should make a new status but I don't know how.
Also I believe I don't see a stack counter text.
EDIT: I am using side icons for raid debuffs.
Any input appreciated,
thanks.

I implemented real-time health bar updates (from combat log) within Grid itself so it cannot possibly interfere with operation of the built-in or other add-on mods. You have to enable it explicitly in the configuration for it to activate, and then you can see some running statistics via /script GridStatusHealth:EstimateStats() after it's activated. It seemed to work fine for the weekend (including healing our first Felmyst kill last night) so I'd say it's satable enough for other people to give it a shot.
Get either patch or full Grid replacement here.
Edit: The computer it's hosted on went down, here's another place with the patch for download: http://pastebin.com/m5050bf59

Hello,
Lovely thread, great pieces of advice all around. Let me add one I recently found out. I read most of the thread, but my apologies if it is mentioned already:
I use the GridManaBars to show my lifebloom duration. Enable manabars through Frame->Advanced->Manabars, and check Lifebloom duration (requires GridStatusLifebloom) in Frame->Manabar instead of 'Mana'.
Concerning Layouts, I am wondering how to set up a layout where you have the nomal groups, with a few targets singled out, like the grid frame showed at | |
