Targetting Party Members (help request)
Most healers target party members by clicking the frames, while others use the F1 to F4 keys(default) to target people in their party quickly. I personnaly cannot get used to using F1 to F4 and I seriously think that clicking frames cripple my ability to see what is going on around me in arenas. The reason why I think it does is because it is not possible to right click and look around while mousing over a party frame as it will bring up the party's menu (Whisper, kick from party, etc).
There are two solutions to my problem that I can think of, either find a mod that will let me hold right click and move my camera around while mousing over any frame in my UI(PitBull in my case) or find a way to bind all 4 of my party members on my keyboard. I personnally would much rather fix the issue with the first solution I explainned above. Does anyone know of a mod that could let me do this? Suggestions on how to fix the issue are appreciated.

Have you tried using Grid and setting it to a fixed position on the screen? Left clicking someone should select them, while right clicking won't be interpreted as a right-click on their character frame.

Agreed. I use grid along with binding my heals to different mouse buttons. Then clicking on the player will instantly start that heal. If you havnt yet, definatly check out grid. Its amazing for the problem you are describing. I actually have my party frames turned off since I got it.

It does work, but the problem is that grid obviously does not offer enough detailed information for what I want to do with it. I guess I could use grid just to target while looking at my party frame? thats an interresting idea :P

What could a party frame possibly show that grid doesnt? I think probably you just need to work with grid options a bit more. It should be able to show you anything a blizzard party frame would.

I just use Clique for healing and dispelling. Then I can keep my (enemy) target while also healing my party.

The problem is that I would like to keep my grid simplistic for when I do raid. I am really curious if a mod that let you right click to move your camera while mousing over a party frame exist.

Tried onmouseover macros? Basically you only have to have your mouse pointer over the edge of the frame of the player you want to heal. You don't have to click the frame and you can immediately move your mouse pointer just off the edge of the frame start mouse looking around while your heal is casting.
/stopcasting
/cast [target=player,modifier:alt] [target=mouseover,exists,help] [help] Cleanse
Basically alt + hotkey will cast on you, otherwise cast on the player you have your mouse over, otherwise cast on the person you have targetted.

Grid is fairly simple but I wasn't used to the small frames. I guess it's a personal choice to which unit frame you want to use at the end of the day. What I did like about Grid, was that when there was a dispellable buff, it would show the same icon as your hotkey. I used a mouseover macro that Ragnor uses.
As for seeing what's going around in the arenas, maybe a widescreen monitor? It does sound like a lame excuse but it really does help with wider screen resolution.
What you can also try to do is use Alt+Tab. This will help to cycle through all nearby party members that are within healing range and that you're facing. It will not target your team members who are behind you or out of sight. I use it a lot in BGs so it should work in Arenas. I usually hold downthe Alt key and kept pressing tab until I saw a target that needed healing.

I really like the idea, I will definatly give it a shot! I'd still like to know if there is a mod somewhere that would let me right click on my party frame though. Thanks for the idea.

Out of curiosity, what is the necessary use for the ALT modifier self-casting? With a macro such as this:
/cast [target=mouseover] Cleanse
You would cast cleanse on your mouseover, and on yourself if you don't have anyone else targeted or have your mouse on them.

The problem is, if you have a mouseover conditional statement in a macro, self-casting (alt) doesn't work unless you add that in. You can still cast on yourself by mousing over your frame, but mousing over yourself will not work since mousing over yourself doesn't actually target you.

Using this macro will not prevent you from being able to right click on any frames and pull up the menu.
If what you're looking for something that will allow you to right click (or any other type of click for that matter) on a frame and heal, I would recommend downloading Clique.

I never used alt-casting, so changing my mouseover macros to
/cast [target=mouseover, help, exists] [help] [target=player] lifebloom
works really well for me. And as for making Grid work better for you, try messing with the options. I have it set to be about an inch wide and a quarter-inch tall on my screen, so the frames are more unitframe-shaped.

Uh, I don't know what setup you're using, but I'd assume that most people playing WOW on a Windows computer will have a very, very different reaction when they hit Alt+Tab.

I tried the macro Ragnor suggested today, the problem is that I would rather not get used to only-mouseover healing, as I have to move my mouse back to the party frame everytime I want to heal someone unless I actually click the frame wich defeats the purpose of the macro in that situation.
I was wondering, what are the different methods other people use to target people in their party?
