Mods forgetting their settings

I'm having a strange problem with a couple of addons that I haven't seen addressed anywhere else. Several of the mods I use seem to be "forgetting" any changes in their settings I make as soon as I log out, or in some cases, every time I hit a loading screen. I know this is to be expected if the game crashes or I exit abruptly, but it shouldn't be happening every time I log out normally.

These are the specific mods/issues:

- SimpleMinimap keeps shifting the location of the map slightly and I have to keep moving it back to where I want it every time I log in.
- I was trying to set up DoTimer for the first time the other day and it would not save ANY of the settings I gave it when I crossed any loading screens (logging in/out and entering/leaving AV were the most common things I was doing).
- Prat - or perhaps the default UI - turns on the battleground chat channel in both my visible chat windows, despite me continually unchecking it in the list of channels for one of the windows.

Anyone have any ideas for fixing this? I'm particularly annoyed about DoTimer since tweaking it to my liking again is not a quick process. I tried to save the current settings as a profile to see if that would help, but that didn't change anything. Am I just not seeing the right options for these addons or is something else going on?

Just an idea, but make sure, all the *.lua files in [WoW-Dir]/WTF/Account/Accountname/Saved Variables/
are writable.

Aha...

I went and looked and could not even find the *.lua files for the addons in question. Upon further investigation that entire folder was marked as read-only. I have no idea why that was the case, but anyway, thank you!

Don't know if you already got an answer or not, but i was having that same problem, and found out it was MoveAnything that was messing with SimpleMinimap, so I deleted MoveAnything and problem solved.

Interesting. I gave up on MoveAnything (in favor of FluidFrames) quite a while ago because it was giving me errors all over the place. My SimpleMinimap is now behaving itself, but DoTimer is still a no-go. I've tracked it down to a Windows Vista (yes, I know, but it's what I have) problem rather than WoW specifically - it continues to set the entire WTF folder as read-only even when I repeatedly tell it not to. The only suggestion I've found on how to fix this is to run WoW "as administrator", but that is not fixing it either.

Any further advice would be welcome, and at least I hope this helps someone else with the same issue.
