WoWEquip - In-game CTProfiles

I'm not the author of this addon, I just felt I should alert people of it's existence as a lot of people have been looking for a new CTProfiles Site / Spreadsheet. But this one trumps both :P

WoWEquip

WoWEquip is an addon written by me in order to let people try on different gear and see their total stats and their differences when compared to something else, typically another set of gear.

In short, an ingame CT-Profiles addon with some stats comparison to allow profile comparisons.

You can get it right off WowAce downloads or using WoWAceUpdater, etc.

To use the addon after it is installed, use /wowequip to open the window. Alternatively, you can also open WoWEquip from the Dressing Room or the default UI's inspect window when you inspect others.

To change gear, left click on an equipment slot, and search/select from the search results in the bottom right. You can also send any item to the Dressing Room (ctrl-click a link/item) to try it on in WoWEquip when the WoWEquip window is open. To change the enchant/gems on that gear, right click on an equipment slot and find the enchant/gem you want in the menus.

Note that WoWEquip does not maintain any sort of item database, it only searches the items that exist in your local cache (items you have seen before since the last WoW patch), so if you can't find an item, get someone to link it to you or use Sniff or AtlasLoot Enhanced or something.

The F and S buttons provides some simple Filtering and Sorting options. The % button toggles between showing ratings and percentages in the Summary. The C button lets you choose what to compare the current equipment profile to, either to your currently equipped gear, or to an existing saved equipment profile.

The Copy Target button (the same button exists in the default Inspect UI window) allows you to copy a person's gear and see his equipment stats in WoWEquip as well as some Derived Stats when you scroll down. (Derived Stats meaning your total crit% gained from both agi and crit rating, etc from the gear.) There's a keybind you can add to inspect someone and you can quickly copy someone's gear and save his equipped profile to compare stats later.

You don't have to show the dressing room, I have merely attached the Dressing Room (currently fixed at 75% scaling) to the left of the WoWEquip window only when both are visible on screen at the same time.

Now What?

WoWEquip is still in beta.

In the process of coding WoWEquip and favouring to add more new features, there are currently no "validity checks" coded in to ensure that impossible combinations of gear/gems/enchants and talents/race/class do not occur. The user is expected to perform such checks himself.

Note that ONLY the statistics and bonuses gained from the gear is calculated. Base character stats such as Agi, Str, Sta and base derived stats such as parry, dodge and block are not included. This is to allow comparison from a pure equipment-gain-only point of view.

I plan to add some Race/Talents support for the Derived Stats calculation.

Tell me what you think.
I personally think it's an awesome addon, let's me see the end stats of changing certain gems and enchants in my gear or with different pieces of gear. Author would appreciate if you have any feedback regarding the mod, be it bugs or suggestions

I found this on wowace yesterday, it's a pretty cool addon when it comes to gear coding, and for a beta seems bug free. Once the talent calculator is built in it'll really become an awesome mod, pretty much a must have for anyone who likes to plan their gear. I'd like to see a buff section that would allow me to include raidbuffs in the stat changes, (particularly kings+imp ds) to allow for some proper theorycrafting!

Other than that, a massive thumbs up from me.

Installed this earlier this afternoon and to be honest I was really struggling to find anything particularly wrong with it to warrant it's beta status, even without the talent calculators he could quite easily get away with launching 'as is' as v1.0.

Very nicely put together mod, I'm sure someone will add the ability to export your profiles to a DB - possibly rendering any work on CTProfiles 2 useless.

I LOVE this mod, I've been playing with it a bit today, I'm a pretty obsessive gear-planner and I've been looking for a mod like this for a long time. It's made my typed-out gear plans redundant Can't wait to see it develop further.

Played around with it today for a bit, haven't found any problems (ie: errors) at all. Only thing that took me a while is it doesn't take into account your total stats when it compares, just compares gear stats vs gear stats. Not a big deal but took me a few min to realize how I could gain xx stam, but have it be lower than my stam in my character sheet.

Something else would be to resize the UI of the mod a bit, everything is so tiny on my screen.

Awesome mod though, if you loved CTprofiles, check it out.

Hi, I'm the author of WoWEquip, and I'll be happy to take any feedback on the addon.

Acustar, the latest version 0.8 has the ability to resize the addon frames.

Adding base stats to the equipment total is one thing I intend to add, but I first have to collect data on the level 70 base stats of every race/class combination that is untalented/naked/unbuffed.

This is an excellent addon but some way to either turn off tooltips or spread out the slots would be good. It's annoyong to have huge tooltips covering everything - maybe add it as a checkbox on the bototm left?

Sorry to bring up such an old thread but I was wondering if WoWEquip, the ingame one or the stand-alone, was still being developed. I saw from WoWAce and Curse that they are still working on it for 3.1 and that it is not dead, but there is nothing other than that. I really liked using this back in BC as it gave much more information than rating buster.

Would there be any similar addons like this floating around? I downloaded the latest version from 9/08 and sadly it does not work with 3.1.

Thanks!

THANK YOU. Jesus, I cannot tell you how much I've missed this addon. It used to be the way I'd plan out gear 2, 3, 4 raids ahead. Being without it has made me try and use a lot of really poor web tools.

I hope this post isn't flagged as useless. >.>
