Re: RockConfig criticism.
Overall I think it's a step in the right direction and a significant improvement over Dewdrop, but a lot of the configs it handles are still constructed as if they should be used with Dewdrop and that can lead to excessive clunkyness in Rock. The Pitbull config is an excellent example: it has a very deep menu tree with few options at each node, which was the best you could do with Dewdrop but is an absolute mess to navigate using Rock. All the options for the Player frame could be fit on a single scrollable page, rather than make the user navigate to Player > Bars > Health > Custom Colour in the menu tree to get a page with just the colour setting for the health bar. It feels like the main problems with Rock-based addons are because the addons are not yet built to utilise the backend properly, rather than due to flaws in the backend itself.
I'd also very much like to second the request for a copy/paste option for colours, as that's really what makes me head back to Waterfall + EnhancedColourPicker for setting up non-Rock mods (read: eePanels).

I like the Rock Setup window for the most part, though, sometimes it can be confusing.
Somewhat off-topic:
CKKnight, since someone earlier mentioned Cowtip: I started using it today. I'd like to suggest an option if possible.
It has to do with the in/out of combat options for showing the tooltip.
A. Make it possible to show tooltips full time out of combat, but only on modifier key while in combat.
B. make it possible to show only a name-tag while in-combat, but show full info in-combat on modifier key.
C. make it possible to show only a name-tag all the time, but only full info with modifier.
On fights like, say, Karathress, it's useful to know the name of the mob you're about to target, but other than that, the tooltip can be confusing with SCT and bossmod bars, etc.
If one of these would be remotely possible, I would be most obliged.
If it's possible now, and I just haven't found the proper option in config, if someone would let me know, that would be great.
Thank you kindly. I appreciate all the work you've put into making the WoW interface as customizable as possible, and look forward to seeing the future of the rock framework as a whole, though, obviously, more fine-tuning is necessary.

Do group colors work for you as well?
I'm finally starting to get things to work, but I'm finding I have to download almost all of the libraries separately.

They don't know what a framework is or that it makes things overall better for them, they just start crying when they have to wait a day or two when their last update for a specifically addon fucked up anything on their glorius UI .........

And here is where you are wrong.
I know rock is a framework, but it sure as hell doesnt make things better for me.
It might make things easier for the people who are developing addons but right now for the end user there is little to no improvement as can be seen by the number of complaints.

I've yet to really experience the Rock change. When I updated to try and fix an aura issue with Pitbull last week and got the Rockified version, I just downgraded to something I was familiar with. Yeah, that's pretty lazy of me but I was setting other things up at the time and didn't want to have to learn a new addon when I was finally getting the hang of the older verison.
The main reason that the Rock color selection makes me go "wtf?" is because I'm trying to set colors across a variety of individual addons in my UI. So far, every single one of them can use the Enhanced Color Picker feature and they're a piece of cake to set up. Then I hit Rock and it was a definite change of pace. I realize I'll probably just get "learn2rock noob" style replies, but I honestly would be happier with a color selection interface that was a little more simple and usable with ECP.

Static memory doesn't effect performance by the time you will notice it you're either under the minimum stats, or below the recommended one. Higher memory typically means more mods running, which costs performance thats why you'd notice a performance decrease (or increase), not the total memory.

Alright, using people's suggestions, I have made a lot of fixes to the config system, as well as a lot of user interface improvements. I hope you like it a lot better, I've gotten a lot of positive reactions.
(To know that you're using the new system, the title bar is no longer blue.)

Much, much better. I really like that you're only dealing with one addon's menu at a time. I still have personal issues with the color selection, but whatever

Just wanted to say that the new configuration menu is greatly improved from the standpoint of usability. Nice work, it is really coming together very well.
Thanks, from a happy user.

I also just want to say that things seem to be coming along well. From my first impression of Rock, I was strongly opposed, but now, I can really see it being a great framework.

I think its more like, when i click my start button in windows, do you want the navigation list we currently have or would you prefer it to open your My Computer window...essentially they both lead to the same spot, and the "My Computer" window has many more options, but usually i just hit my start button and find the program (the option) i want.
Edit: haven't gotten new version yet, its 1am here and i'm going to bed ; D

Sorry for not wanting to read through the entire thread (the first few pages seem like a bunch of crying that doesn't belong here).
How the hell do I get rid of the "Addon Preferences"/"Rock" set-up thing? It's the most worthless thing I've ever experienced in terms of WoW add-ons and it's buggy. I'm trying to configure Pitbull but having a humongous, obnoxious window in the middle of my screen makes me want to go a murdering spree.
How do I get the Pitbull icon back?
How do I *permanently* get rid of that new Rock set-up?
How do I do this for other mods that have been infected by this awful design?
Again sorry if this has been answered before, I just have no intention of reading through the drama that's on the first few pages.
Edit: Going to an eariler version of Pitbull (with the working icon) doesn't work, I get the damn Rock icon even though I didn't use to have it with the old version, thus making Pitbull useless because half Enable/Disable options are broken.

Zaroua,
You'll probably need to revert all mods that currently use the Rock framework to a pre-rock version. Not just Pitbull, but FuBar and others too.
I think PitBull-r47902 is probably the one you want, from around the start of September. Can't comment on anything else since you don't say what other mods you're using.
If you want to carry on using any of these mods longer term this obviously isn't a great idea, as you'll never be able to update them. You should probably look elsewhere for alternatives if the configuration system is such an affront to you.

Anyone have problems using profiles since the introduction of Rock? All of my ace mods error out when I try to "copy from" another profile. Sometimes the mods reset all their parameters when it introduces this error, and I have to revert back to an old WTF saved variable in order to get my settings back.
As an aside, the config is getting better. I like how it defaults to the specific mod now when you go into the rock config menus - this really bloated down on the excess craziness that it used to throw up.

I quite like the new rock config, but I didn't mind the old one either. I've managed to get my UI to be both functional and good looking now that I've reconfigured everything. Since it's all in the one place, it's just a matter of tweaking things one by one.
Even if I didn't like it I'd have no right to whinge. It cost me nothing, and the author some time. His cost is greater than mine, so I get to shut up and uninstall the mods I dislike.
Keep up the good work.

I have this problem too, but reload ui fixes it. I think theres some issue where the profile copies to your saved file fine, but it bones up what you currently have loaded.
So copy profile, click away errors, don't move anything and hit /reloadui.

Sorry if i posted this twice but, is anyone else having trouble with pitbull and rock? Niagara was much easier to me. The color schemes, the options are self explanitory but it seems as if some options are missing oposed to when it was in niagara. Since alll my addons are still in niagara except pitbull.

I have to agree, the ability to copy/paste colours is a godsend. Another thing I might request is some way of scrolling dropdown menus or moving them to two columns. I have a lot of custom bar textures and in order to see them all on the list I have to scale the rock config window waaaay down so I can barely read the text, select the texture I want and then scale the config window back up so I can read it again.
Other than that I don't have any problems with Rock, barely took 5mins to get used to the new way of doing things. Thanks for your awesome work ckk
