by holding down the right mouse, strafe using the dpad.
This is very limiting, as you've just described that the only way to strafe is to occupy a mouse button. You are therefor unable to acquire new targets, click flags, whatever, while strafing.
Very limiting indeed and I have to caution against doing that out of, as you said yourself, laziness.
Replace "O" and "B" with a d-pad and I'll buy several of these.
Otherwise, it's no different than Fang and not quite as useful as the n52. It could be better than Fang simply by being heavier than Fang. That would be an improvement over Fang.
I use a wolfclaw, not that particular one but a keyboard version.
I've tried the n52 thing a couple times at bestbuy and it just seems too different from a keyboard for me to get used to. The wolfclaw takes what I'm used to and just shifts buttons around a little bit to make them easier to hit for gaming.
I use the , . B and O keys for tab targeting and major spells. The shift key is very easy to hit with my pinky while keeping my hands in the same place. And most of the letters are very easy to hit quickly. I've always been a fan of using all the keys around the WASD opposed to 1-0, because it seems like I am less likely to hit a wrong key.
Some of the keys are not very usable (M, H, N) etc
My keyboard at home is a typical mushy dome switch Dell disaster and seems to have just gotten worse over time. I've been racking my brain for a couple weeks now trying to find a suitable replacement.
Any suggestions (based on the following caveats)?
Clickier keypresses preferred
Laptop style switches are not preferred
Ergonomic keyboards also not preferred
I am intrigued by a number of the keyboards suggested so far in this thread, but I haven't been able to actually try any of these first-hand since most stores I go to don't have any of these on display. My main concern is a hearty keystroke (and preferably an audible click of some kind). Right now I'm leaning towards a Model M or Das Keyboard, but both are a little pricy with the former being just a liiiittle too loud for my liking.

Give the TactilePro 2.0 a looksie. I've been using one for a few months. It doesn't have 40,000 extra keys but it is clicky as hell.

Didn't know about that one... looks nice. I'm currently using an Apple Keyboard and an old Apple Pro Keyboard for my computers, and I was wondering what I'd do if I had to replace them (don't care for the new laptop-style Apple Keyboard very much). $150 for a keyboard though, is just a bit too rich for my blood...
Yeah the price tag is a little hefty, but the keyboard is absolutely solid, the response and feedback exceptional and the extra USB port handy....I also use it for my actual work so I can justify the price a bit.
Anyone knows when n52te is released? Someone said 1st of feb earlier in the thread.
They must be shipping right now, I just checked their forum for the N52TE and people are posting that they've had packages arriving. Amazon still has my pre-order listed as March 4th for the shipping date.
[e] Ok it looks like the people getting them right now are contest winners, so the retail stock should be going out pretty soon.

We are starting to ship products into the retail channel at the end of this week [this was posted 4 Feb], so your product is certainly on its way! Since we have no control over how the retailers allocate to your order, we cannot give you a firm answer other than that things are moving along.
Wow! They don't have much good to say about the new model. Eventhough they're using a "contest version" I doubt there's any difference between that and the release version which seems to be out in a few days.

There's differences - n52te feedback response - Invision Power Board but they're apparently based on some production errors. That thread basically says that everything the contest winners complained about has already been addressed at the production level.

Yeah, I was about to give up on the n52te and get the old one when I saw that post. Now I'm looking forward to its release again
What I want is something that updates in realtime so that, say, my Healing Wave button can show the amount that it's likely to heal based on the number of stacks of 6% buff on the target.
Or have a Grid-like layout (like the mod) that shows health for the raid, flashes when the person gets aggro etc and is bound to various kinds of heals. (so I just push the key on the keyboard rather than click the screen to target and heal someone).
I want my earthshock key to change colour when the cooldown is up, for example.
Your cutout can't do that, but an OLED keyboard could, in theory.
how can you afford to spend that much time staring at your keyboard? For my playstyle, i focus 100% on the screen (in fact, a relatively small portion of the screen), and my hands are operating completely independantly, without any focus or attention.
I recently bought a $50 microsoft headset, but I hate the big control box on the wire, which barely reaches the desk, the cord is annoying, and the pads go over my whole ears, which some may or may not like.
Has anyone found a good quality cordless headset option? When I search I usually end up finding Jawbone or some other single ear mobile phone headset and not traditional headphones.
I might be persuaded to go the corded route if someone can suggest headphones with really good voice quality.
I just bought the Razer Lachesis and i am having a few problems with it.
The problem is that im binding the mouse buttons to keys on the keyboard and wow doesent seem to recognize all off them (atleast not the ones on the right side and the ones above the wheel) after i have done this, let it be for a short hile it seems to just reset all my setting back to standard.
Is there any way to solve this or is it just that i made a mistake in the setup somewhere?
Or even better, is there a way to make wow recognize all the buttons?

I just bought a Merk Stealth which is a lot like a g15, except it has a gaming pad on the left side. I like it a lot, but am having some problems with the macro part (works like a g15.) I simply want to hold a Key down for my shot rotation macro and have it repeat it. Trying to spam something 5 times a sec just wears out my keyboard to fast. I'm not talknig about botting, I will be holding the button down.
I also looked at AutoHotkey and can't quite figure that out. I just want to hold a key down and have it repeat say 10 times a second until I release. Would prefer to do it with my keyboard, but an outside thing liek AutoHotkey is fine as well.
So I finally got my N52TE today (happened across one at best buy). It's funny that after 3 years of using the old model all the little flaws just seemed kind of natural to me.
Keys are softer and have less travel now
The wrist rest is easily removable
The last row of keys sits a little lower
The wheel has a tactile click as you turn it
The thumb button (old orange button) doesn't stick
The 8 directional pad is also more sensitive
The base stays in place better (and is level, unlike the reported earlier N53TE test models)
None of these are flaws, really, but I'm just not used to some of them. I'm guessing these will come in time.
I guess the major shortcoming is there's one less keystate for some reason and the default blue state always stays lit. Truth be told, there aren't really enough improvements on this to be worth the upgrade, in my opinion. I had to replace my old one though due to some sticky keys.
