This is just flagrantly wrong. I bought a g5 mouse only recently after years of using the MX400. As someone that plays more than just WoW, I can say that the mouse is fantastic. Its comfortable for long use, buttons are placed well, and being able to drop to a sensitivity for WoW, instantly back to the one I use for Windows, and another that I use for FPS games is fantastic. If you break this mouse you were probably throwing it around. The g5 is probably the most pleasant mouse I've ever had my hands on. Now if only my keyboard wasn't a pile of garbage held together the the tenuous dreams of orphans.

Has anyone been able to get their hands on a Logitech G13? Or been able to find anything related to its release date? I came across sites which mentioned that it was supposed to be released in December 2008 (22nd to be precise), but now there're a few rumours going around that its been delayed till 15th January 2009.

If this was any other forum I wouldn't even bother responding just based on your user name, but seriously, if you're going to be spouting bullshit, at least pretend to have some information to back it up.

It seems to be available directly from Logitech's website:

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/ke.../5123&cl=us,en

I've gotten as far as the last confirmation page before the order goes through without it telling me that it's unavailable. I just can't bring myself to spend so much, on basically just part of a keyboard, before I find some more reviews from people who have actually tried playing with it...

Just a tip on logitech.com; google for coupons. Might save a few bucks, some of them are still active (i.e. THANKYOU is still 10% off in europe at least).

So your mouse is a beast:

This is the Sandio 3d 02 gaming mouse. It has THREE fully bind-able joysticks, 2 thumb click buttons, and a scroll wheel. By pressing down the middle joystick you can switch between 400, 800, 1600, and 2000 dpi on the fly. Using the software, you can create custom keybind profiles and easily load them as needed. Right now, I have about 25 abilities bound to my mouse along with strafe and camera binds. The mouse takes about 2 weeks to get used to but once you do you will fall in love with this mouse. I have paired this mouse with the gigantic Steelpad 5L mousepad and the results have been fantastic.

Asking for a mouse recommendation can often be as useful as asking for a colour recommendation, what one person likes you can guarantee another will hate. The main reason for this is your own hand - it's different to everyone else's. Do yourself a favour and go to a decent computer store that has mice on display and try out all of them. When you find the one that feels best for your hand, has the button requirements that you yourself want, and has decent software (do some research on drivers) then buy that one. In my opinion the actual technology side of things like DPI, laser or optical is mostly marketing, you can expect any modern mouse that costs over 20 Dollars/Euros/Pounds to perform well and last long.

I have an mx510 so I'm pretty much confortable with the mouse but the problem is that it's getting *old* that why I asked for the opinions since I heard very mixed comments about it. My main intereset is the tilt-wheel.

I believe it's being debuted at CES this week, so any day/minute/second now it should be available for purchase.

Man, I really wish I had known about the g13, that thing looks great. I *just* bought a new n52te to replace my old n52 that broke, too.

Then again, the n52te is so damn comfy i'm not sure how all those extra buttons on the g13 would work out. It certainly looks useable, but it might be a bit of a stretch for some of those keys.

I don't see anything that allows adjustability on the G13.

Went shopping at Fry's Electronics yesterday and picked up 1 out of the remaining 4 G13s that they had.

I had previously purchased a n52te and returned it to Best Buy an hour later. The thumb bar was absolutely horrible and had tons of slop and some of the other thumb surfaces weren't very "crisp". I'm also really not a fan of the macro writing system associated with Razor products. I currently use the Lycosa from Razor when I'm at my secondary home and I am familiar with the Razor macro software. I've been using a G15 on my primary computer for about 3 years now and I prefer Logitech's macro system.

There seem to be 2 primary differences between the n52te and G13 macros.
1) You can write a significantly longer macro with the G13/15 software.
2) Both the Logitech and Razor macro systems allow for "toggling". For the Logitech, you can set it so that when you turn "it on" it stays on until turned off. The macro software from Razor acts differently, whereas you can set a key to repeat a macro until another key is pressed. This is important for me, because when I'm using my G15 and I activate a macro and decide to use any other keys (like for movement) the macro continues to execute. I'm unable to freely perform that task the Lycosa.

I may be comparing apples and oranges here, because all my macro experience has been primarily for the macro capable keyboards from these companies at this point. There may be differences between the the macro software from the keypad controllers that I haven't encountered yet. As of this writing though, I'd say that it seems the bulk of the software is directly copied if not exactly the same.

It's taken a bit of work to get started on the G13, but I'm really happy with it. It's a challenge to wrap my head around button usage/placement vs. that which I am use to using with my normal keyboards.

@ Jekar: I'm 5'11" and have "normal hands". I wish I had like 5% larger hands to be able to freely handle the G-13. So you should be fine.

Currently suffering with a generic MS optical. I have it narrowed down to a G5 or Razer DeathAdder. Anyone have a recommendation? I like the extra buttons on the G5, but the Razer just feels really comfortable.

Searching through this thread there were some references to the Ergodex DX1 early on. The posts were from 2007, I am curious if any of those folks still post and if you still use the DX1 for WoW. I've been tempted for a while to try one and I am glad the company is still in business. Hopefully some of you can report how the device has fared after 2 years of WoW use.

I use a G5, and have used an n52, a Saitek Pro Gamer Command Pad, and just recently upgraded to a G13. Here are my impressions:

The n52 is an incredible improvement over nothing at all, but the D pad is clunky compared to the hat switches of the others, and it just doesn't have enough buttons for me.

The command pad has the best interface software of all of them, allowing some of the best programming, and the hat switch is nice. Button layout is convenient, and you can do more with it than you can with an n52. No real complaints about it.

The G13's programming options disappointed me a little, since it doesn't actually have modifier states the way that the n52 and the command pad do, but it has more buttons, and with a little work inside WoW itself you can work around that. Once you do, you can have every button you press in WoW at your fingertips with just a little work. More expensive, and requires an additional period of time to get accustomed to, but I think I'll be sticking with it of the three.

I figured I'd follow up on the Ergodex DX1 in case anyone else is interested since the early posters don't seem to be around any more.

I picked mine up for 148.14 from Beach Audio an Amazon store front. Relative to other gaming keyboards, controllers, and mice it didn't seem too expensive.

The keyboard appears really well made, my only complaint is that the keys don't have any sort of tactile feedback. No noise no click just a smooth key press, but I can live with that. One thing to be wary of is the software, apparently the company is having some sort of development issues and the software is pretty old. There is no support for 64 bit XP or 32/64 bit Vista, but luckily there is some home-grown software that works with 64bit XP and both Vistas here so I was able to get the keyboard up and working. It's ugly and bare, but it works.

For WoW I love the keyboard, one thing I hated about devices like the N52 was fitting it to my hand. I could never make use of the controller fully. It could be the size of my hands or simply a dexterity thing I don't know, but with this keyboard I can lay everything out perfectly. Right now I am running 15 keys and have not even started with modifiers. To my surprise I've found that I can easily operate 6 keys with my thumb, something I had not thought of until I started laying everything out.

Anyway it's a very interesting device for gaming, overall I am very happy with it.

Anyone have any experience with the Logitech G9 and Mac os X?

Worth bothering, or am I better off just picking up an MX Revolution to replace my aging 1000?

Have you checked out the new Logitech 1100? Very similar to the 1000, which was my favorite, with a few improvements over the MX Revolution (due to consumer feedback, many didn't like the thumb wheel). Ten buttons, eight are reprogrammable.

People swear by the G5 but I will mirror your sentiments about the comfortability of the Razer. I own the Death Adder and have been more than happy with it.

I purchased a G9 about a year ago and it worked pretty well for about 3 months until the scroll wheel began to act sporadically. Logitech replaced it and the new mouse worked for about 2-3 months until it started acting up with similar symptoms as the previous mouse with the scroll wheel losing it's responsiveness. I wrote a letter to Logitech explaining my concerns, had the mouse replaced, and now it sits in the original package until I can sell it.

I replaced it with a Razer Death Adder and have been very impressed with 6 months of use I've gotten out of it. It's a simple mouse but it just feels and responds very, very well. I would definitely purchase another one if it were to ever break.

I use a G9 since the day they were available in Germany and never had a single problem with it. Either im extremly lucky or you got two bad mice in a row.

I dig my new Revolution. It took about a week to get used to it's unusual shape (I was using a Logitech Click! Plus, basically a older, less snazzy cordless G5), but I like having all those buttons right at my fingertips. The thumb wheel is awkward at first but it has grown on me.

Is there any way of altering the sensitivity of the thumbstick on the G13? I'm really comfortable with thumbstick movement in console games, but in WoW where it's bound to a digital method (WASD) I hate the dead zone before it engages.

How is everyone with one using it? I'm still trying to see if I like thumbstick or WASD style control better with it...

I just picked up a Logitech MX1100 this week to replace a dying revolution. Both are very nice mice and the revolution served me faithfully from karazhan to Sunwell. I'm a Priest and use clique extensively, I really enjoy getting as many functions onto standard clicks as possible (least possible shift/ctrl use) so the advertised 10 buttons on the MX1100 seemed ideal. My only issue is that I cannot get the DPI adjusting buttons or the stealth thumb button to bind with clique, or even register their clicks within WoW. I dinked around with the packaged drivers for a while yesterday trying to make it work, to no success.

Any insight on how to get them to work would be endlessly helpful.
