New UI, a big WIP still.



I spent most of the day going thought some of the same idea. I'm happy with the bars and stuff on the bottom (except the pet/stance eePanel but, I'll figure it out later). Only thing I need to do is frames now.

Advice by PM is welcome.

Just took this tonight after we had already raided, will try to put something up tomorrow night.

Much of it was copied from Eoy, a warlock in Forte. Other stuff is of my own creation =D Grid is there mainly just because i like to see whats going on with the rest of the raid. Also, i plan on downloading clique for lazy summoning ^^

I still need to find a better place for my pet frame...it seems pretty out of place over where it is. Any suggestions?

It was this very discussion that led me to be referred to your forums

I'm learning how to heal, and I'm afraid my UI is hindering the process. I suffer a bit from "tunnel vision" (I blew us up on my first attempt at Solarian) because I'm so twitchy about dropping a healing assignment that I lose focus on positioning and environment. This is my first healing class, I'm more used to standing and range-nuking. Any advice would be most appreicated !

Finally came up with a solution to the problem I was having with incorporating totems and my cooldowns somewhere in my UI. Most UI's I see generally have their cooldowns showing by either having their action bars with cooldowns on them or just 1 bar with spells that actually have cooldowns on them.

For probably 2 years though all of my action bars have been hidden and I've always used coolDown to watch cooldowns, I don't think any mod of mine lasted as long as coolDown but I finally had to let go of it for a cooldown mod with more(easier) customizability.

Basically now my cooldowns have 3 categories that way they all take up about the same amount of space as my totems. Like I said I'm pretty happy with it, unfortunately the boxes that hold totems and cooldowns still appear even if none are up as I'm pretty much clueless how to parent to a frame with eePanels when "/print GetMouseFocus():GetName()" doesn't yield anything over any related frames(all I can get is "WorldFrame over any part of my totem timer or cooldown mod ). Always open to suggestions.

It's my UI, since omgphatloots is offline you can get it on WoWInterface.

What I personally found extremely helpful is to set up a floating combat text addon for that which displays a message that you've gotten a debuff in a position where you're generally looking on your screen while healing. In my case this is simply top center, but I'm one of the few people that has most important UI information on the top half of the screen (As opposed to the bottom half used by a lot of people). Just experiment a bit with this. If I look at your UI I expect putting such messages above your raid frames would be a good spot.

Alternatively I'm pretty sure any good BossMod also allows you to set where it displays it's messages or it's timer bars. While I can't see which BossMods you are running (if any), I personally use BigWigs for this reason, since it both allows me to put it's messages where I want, and the bar emphasis when they go below 10 seconds time left is also an extremely good feature to draw attention to something important going on. I've actually got the timer bars which aren't being emphasized somewhere off the side where I don't really notice them unless I consciously decide to look at the time on something, while they immediately jump into my view when they're becoming close to being applicable.

I'm also a solid believer in minimizing unneeded information; e.g I don't have my party frames showing while in a raid since my party is displayed in the raid frames as well, and I also keep my frames in general quite small (Though I'll freely admit using frames of ~150*20 pixels is probably too small for most people).

Thx for the critique, the addon is called Music Stream
it's still kinda buggy and I'm unsure as to how much music takes up on the addons folder, I found it easier to just use another mp3 player outside of WoW

As for the keybindings, the totemus buttons are drop downs that will let me scroll over them and open up to totems I have, the button just shows the most recently used totem, it has the 2nd to last totem stored as well under a middle-click, so I use those for when i need to keep a resistance totem down or something like that

not sure if you're using EBBs for the cooldown windows, but if so you might want to show the anchor and then test your parenting macro, should show you something else then worldframe then.

I was curious about the buffbars in Ryas UI. I've been fiddling with ebb for a while trying to figure out how he did it. It seems like his pet buffs are padded with his player buffs, but all I can find from the options is having them as separate anchors. Is there someway to anchor them with each other? It seems like if he gained another buff, it would overlap his pet buffs.

This is my new ui, still cant get Tapestrys fonts >.<, but this is everything showing out of battle, will show a in combat pic soon . Do ya think Hal's unit frames or these look better with this ui? Also feedback and comments appreciated

I really can't understand why you can't get the fonts to work. Many have set that font up with no problems. Are you running Clearfont2 at the same time? Also did you edit the mymedia.lua file with the correct path to each font? The fact that you see the font name listed but the font doesn't change means the path is probably incorrect and it is not finding the font.

Thats what i got (i could of sworn its not wrong). No got no cleafont2 either lol. I got the pixeldu font in the sharemedia font folder to, unless its the wrong 1 (because theres bold and expanded versions also). I dont think thats wrong....hehe.

Well thats what i got, i gota fix my party frames, there kind of small. Also noone would happen to have the color #'s for class colors would ya? Rock config has color panels instead of the color wheel and im keen on getting the exact class colors hehe.

Thank you your 1 of the few to comment my ui, my idea come from the great designers like Tapestry and Ryas for example. What would you have done with the chat if you dont mind me askin? My screen is not that big so i did that to take up as little space as i can, and it worked hehe, but what would you have done? Thank you for the comment once again =D!

Reasons I liked Grid better:
-being able to color the health deficit (the back bar if you will, not the text) by class (I can't seem to find this option in Pitbull)
-being able to color the health bar itself by a dark version (almost black) of the class color. On Pitbull I had to deal with it just being black, or the class color.
-being able to have a different font then the other frames. I find BigNoodleTilting to large and obtrusive for small raid frames, but perfect for myself/target frames
-have an indicator of aggro, without the whole frame being recolored red
-having an indicator of my HoTs as opposed to any priests HoTs
-being able to have buff indicators inside the frame allowed for a more compact, and better looking, raid group
-being able to move all the frames as a group (more of a setting up problem, but I change things often enough that it mattered to me)

But, there are better things on Pitbulls side too:
-being able to color the mana bars by class
-buffs having icons as opposed to just colored squares
-having a look more in line with my other frames then grid can have
-more flexibility on healthbar color (I just happen to like grids default options better, even though it has less)
-being able to move text/icons out of the frame if you desired

Check the font filename - it is not called Pixeldust.ttf

I would have it justified normally. not anything moved. its perfect where it is. but i just prefer it justified the default way
