Question Ryas, how do you get that neat border around your quartz casting bar? All i got for border options for quartz are default and none, and default is like black ugly, not rectanguler border around the cast bar (unlike yours which is nice rectangle border around the castbar). Can ya help me out?

It's a parented eePanel.

How would i parent an eepanels to quartz? Just unlock quartz, put the eepanels over it, and in parenting put quartz? Or do i have to do somthing or write somthing more specific in the parenting part or somthing?

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe you just setup the eepanels background then move the quartz cast bar over the background you setup with eepanels.

It's amazing what you can learn when you take the time to look.

For those that pester people on here with a lot of questions, I first suggest you try to do some research on your own. For most ace mods, the wiki pages and forum threads provide a lot of information and will answer most of your questions.

How to parent is listed there, along with the macro you need to make in order to find a frame's name.

Using google is pretty hard.

Wouldnt you have to do somthign with the parenting part, because if ya do that and no parenting the eepanels would just stand there, no?

Ok so i made the macro /print GetMouseFocus():GetName() and i put it in my bar, and when i clicked it and hoverd over my castbar that was well...casting, nothing happend. Im not sure what to do once you get the macro, as far as putting it on your bars, clicking it on your bar, and where does the name of the thing i want to parent come up?

Hmm, why the heck would you use eepanels for Pitbull and Quartz?
This is not needed since they can show the tooltip-border itself, all you have to understand is how it works.

Quartz border activation in 3 steps:
- open quartz config
- go to the border-alpha slider under colors and move it to 1 (this means 100% visivility)
- go to the border-color field and change the color to white (important) since the color is multiplicated with the border-texture (1*1=1). now the border becomes visible

Same for pitbull: (ok this one is for my rusty pitbull, but the rock version should be the same)
- open pitbull config
- go to global settings -> colors -> frame -> border
- make it white with 100% visibility

Done. The border is already there you just have to switch the light one

If you see the default blizzard tooltip border you forgot to replace the "/" with "\\" thats all.

If the addon has the possibility to show the tooltip-border already, go use it!

I, too, was wondering why Ryas and some others use this method (parenting to eePanels/PitBull for borders). Figured it was common knowledge, but this is a great guide to opening it up.

The above method works for several other addons too.

Clock + fps/latency is....CFL!
Clock + memory/latency is....CML!

I'm not sure if CFL is distributed apart from in some compilations, but CML is on wowace.

Could be also SLTimex , wich is basically CML with more options to configure.

like:
