Ẁide Screen UIs

I had a search for widescreen UI's and didnt find much so I figured I could ask my questions and open a thread for the (presumably increasing) number of people with widescreen monitors.

This is my current UI:

(Sorry for the photobucket, I assume the UI forums wont get enough traffic to kill it instantly).

The Addons:
Photek X (curse gaming)
Omen
Recount
DoTimer
CooldownCounters

My main issues are:
1) Elk Buffbars are no longer at the screen edge.
2) Whichever addon (Ace2 ?) is drawing in the boxes at the bottom of the UI is now off center.
3) For some reason the buff symbols from the default UI have reappeared, Im not sure how to remove these so they dont sit over Elk.

Which other UI addons need altering to fit a widescreen aspect ?

Did you recently go from a normal screen to a widescreen resolution? I have a 30" mac widescreen and my addons line up just fine.

If you play with the health bars of enemies up ('v' by default), you'll want an addon badly that will modify them or they will be HUGE. Aloft is good for that.

Chat bubbles will also be huge, but I've been told that they're hard-coded into the game and cannot be modified, so you have to live with them being too big or turn them off. :/

A lot of addons use (pixel, pixel) alignment so when you go to change your resolution to a bigger set, it makes things get thrown off. So combine that with addons that align by (%,%) you get problems.

Though it could all be that pesky bugged UI scaling at the moment.

Best bet is to just unlock everything, enable/disable it once and just re-do(align) your UI. Takes a while, but better than making a new UI from scratch.

1) Just unlock and move them, it's pretty easy to do. /ebb unlock (if I'm not mistaken, and it's ElkBuffBars, not Elf.. )

2) Looks like eePanels. Same thing, unlock and move.

Re: other addons, it looks like you have bartender3 / bongos (or possibly both?)
It's the same with those though, unless you do have 2 different addons for it, then i suggest you disable one of them, just unlock and move.

That's really what changing resolution in an UI is about, realigning. Luckily a lot is done by drag and drop, so it's fairly easy.

As evidenced by the PC thread in the BB, yes
If it is a matter of drag/dropping things that shouldnt be a problem; I will check if it is eePanels that produce the flattering black blobs at the bottom. I use bartender3 so moving the bars is trivial.

Any advice on hiding the default buff icons that have reappeared in the top right corner, they are pretty unsightly now I am used to Elk (and not elf ). Im not sure why but the overhead healthbars were not displaying last night either for some reason.

Well that's what did it then, you changed your resolution to widescreen and all the addons are using placement methods that don't play friendly with that. As mentioned above, all you have to do is unlock all of them and move the addons around by whatever anchor they use.

ElkBuffBars *should* be hiding the default icons, go through the options - /ebb - and make sure its not somehow enabled accidently.

This is why you shouldn't download UI compilations.

i had the same problem....are you using Dotimer?

apparently there is a bug in the Players Aura folder. just delete that folder from the Dotimer package and the default blizz icons for buffs go away.

As long as you manually configure all your mods there really shouldn't be any problem (there isn't on my wide screen laptop at least).

This worked, thank you very much.
To the above comments, Photek X really brought me to a point where my UI is at its most effective in over 2 years of playing WoW. Packages can introduce casual players to UI mods they would never have even have thought to look for, and so they are not all bad in my eyes.
