Moving Raid Members in Combat

I seem to recall there being some discussion about this issue, but my attempts at finding them via Search have thus far proved futile. If it does happen to be that I'm just an idiot and missed it, please lock/delete this thread and just provide me with a link to them.

Anyway, the issue is that I can't seem to use the Raid window to move members between groups while in combat. I've actually had this for quite a while, but it had never been a big issue and thus I've just ignored it. But nowadays I'm finding that it's increasingly more likely I need to be able to do so, and thus I'd like to know if anyone had figured out any specific AddOns had/has been causing this problem. Several other members of my guild has noticed it as well, and someone said that it was Skinner, but at least one person who doesn't use it has the issue.

Anyone have any insight on what causes this? Thanks.

Stop using Ctraid and replace it with Ora2. Check out files.wowace.com.

If you aren't a Ctmod user, it is probably related to an add-on that impacts your raid tab.

My money is that you are a Ctmod user though. I had the same issue months ago.

CTRaid. If you have that enabled, turn it off. Try something like oRA2 instead (files.wowace.com) if you need similar functionality without the bugs.

I guess I probably should've posted a list of AddOns that I'm using, but I'm unfortunately not at home and thus can't give a complete list. However, I most definitely am not using CTRA.

I've heard mention of MoveAnything (or maybe just some versions of MoveAnything?) causing this from time to time.

Most recently AuldLangSyne was causing this for me because it modified the social panel to include that general notes tab, but this may have been fixed in the most recent update:

Like Malevalon, Sepulture, and Aust have all commented on so far, this is typically something modifying the social panel (Chat, Friends, Guild, Raid, etc). If you aren't running an addon someone has specifically mentioned, looking for something that is making changes there is a good place to start.

I had this issue and it was ArenaLiveFrames that caused it.

A guildie of mine had a mod that changed the color of classes and it gave her issues when trying to swap people around.

I thought they disabled moving people in raids during combat when they made all the changes with the protected frames and stuff (aka the patch that killed decursive). Same reason party members don't show up if they join when your in combat.

If its been CTRaid all this time..... *shakes fist*

Now I need to disable all addons and get into a raid to confirm/deny this. The ability to move around spriests or resto shamans mid fight would be a huge boost.

In a recent patch the functions to set the blizzard main assist and blizzard main tank targets were changed to protected, meaning you can only set them from the blizzard ui. Any other mod that tries to set these has the potential to taint the UI resulting in problems like you guys seem to be experiencing.

You'll probably need to ditch any mods that do MT or MA target setting unless they have been updated and avoid trying to set the blizzard MA and MT's.

Ora2 does not try to set the blizzard MA or MT's (according to the authors), it uses it's own lists for MA and MT... so should be fine.

PS: Can't believe people still actually use CTRA after all the problems with it in the past and the speed at which it (doesn't) get updated

I find the CT raid frames the best combination of utility (something to see a player's name, hp, mana debuffs, etc) and stability/ease of install. With a single 628 KB download I get everything I need and seems to perform as well as the competition. I haven't find their update speed lacking for any of the raid frame issues.

(edit) I just tried it with an all addon disabled toon. Sure enough its not the Blizz frame protection. Now I need to find something as good as CT. /cry

(edit2) OK, false alarm. I re-enabled the raid frames and was able to move myself from group to group. Perhaps it was fixed in the last update when they move the CTRaid tab to its own window. CT frames live for another day!

I've tried sRaidFrames. It had 2 major issues at the time I audited it:

1- It was very laggy in Alterac Valley where people are constantly entering/leaving the battleground. Probably has been fixed in the mean time.

2- Requires additional addons for the raid management features so twice as many things to track down or wait for updates on.

sRaidFrames is certainly something I keep tabs on from time to time. Do you happen to know if it supports frame sets (i.e. groups 1,2 go over here for the 10 man set, over there for the 25 man set). I can't remember at the moment and that's a handy feature for me.

Is there an alternative to swapping groups around using the Social pane? Can you use Macro's or Mods to move them? Our RL often complains about this and it would be sweet if there was some mod which made this easier. The most optimal way was to be able to move people around in grid og pitbull, but I got told that feature is impossible due to Blizzards UI protection.

Has anyone hit any addons that stop working if you swap groups around mid-combat? I know there are several healers in my guild who like Healbot, and they tend to start squawking if people leave or join the raid mid-combat, as some of their interface stops working.

I'd been a bit gunshy of tossing people around mid-fight as a result.

There is indeed a macro, one of my guildies was using it last week on Kael'Thas
