chat window eePannel

I'm currently trying to figure out, if it is possible to attach an eePannel to the chat window that hides when the chat text fades. Or a work around to achieve that the pannel hides when the chatbox is empty.

Any ideas on this ? Maybe it's only possible with some kind of chat addon, if possible at all ?

I tried to attach one, however the chat seems to be split up in several "corners" and it doesn't hide anything when the chatbox becomes empty because the frame is just empty, but still "visible" - even with an alpha of 0.

Hey all, I keep getting a error when I mouse over my focus unit frame and my ToT unit fram. I don't have the complete error off hand as i'm at work right now but what I do remember is that it mentions something about setunit:tooltip.

It's really annoying because it only happens during raids. And it happens on mouse over and when I die. I thought it might be something with pitbull (which is the unitframe addon that I use) but after turning off different modules in pitbull I still get the error. Then I figured that it might be my tooltip addon. I've tried cowtip, tiptac and etooltip and I get the error with all of them. I still get the error with the default tool tip.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Issue with Elkano's Buff Bars

I had used Elkano's Buff Bars since shortly after they released and several months ago, they broke for me. Rather than fixing the problem, I simply put up with Blizzard's buff frames for a while.

Now that 3.0 has come out and I am putting the finishing touches on my new UI, I'm trying to get them working again. The problem that I'm running into is that they are not saving any changes I make and so every group I set up disappears when I log in.

This is what the UI looks like on login - http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Xaev/WoW/ui_-_bad.jpg

This is what I want the UI to look like - http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Xaev/WoW/ui_-_good.jpg

EBB doesn't seem to be saving anything into the SavedVariables folder inside the WTF folder. There is no file for the mod and I have no idea how to fix this problem. I have the latest updates for it but I have been having this same problem since 2.4.3.

Does anyone have any ideas that I might be able to use to resolve this issue or any other mods similar in look/functionality to EBB that I might replace it with?

EDIT:: Replaced EBB with Satrina's Buff Frames. Issue Resolved.

Parrot/SCT/etc

Which of the Parrot/SCT style mods are most easily configurable?

That question is almost meaningless without context, I know.

I am currently using Parrot, but am very unhappy with my ability to extract useful information from the spam on my screen, and am looking to configure it to be easier to tell what is going on.

In particular, as a tankadin, I'm often hitting multiple mobs with consecrate, HotR, SoCorruption ticks and such, and being beat on by those same mobs (dodges, parries, hits, blocks, etc, reported). Folks are being healed by my Judgement of Light. I'm being healed by various sources and getting mana back from Replenishment and JoW, sometimes SoW as well.

That is a ton of information spamming around.

I notice in Parrot that to configure incoming heals to display itself differently (like having it not show the name of the heal, just who cast it, how much, and how much overheal), I need to edit a text box that contains a special syntax used to describe what the line looks like. This makes the mod highly customizable, but at the same time a pain to customize for users looking for a simple thing, like turning on or off whether it shows the name of the healer.

Further, changes to how things look coming in has to be done in four different places just for heals (self-heals, heals from others, couple of other categories I forget, and a mass change in general to how incoming messages look would have to be done in some 20 places, once for each individual and specific type of message you could receive for incoming heals/damage/etc.

So, do any of the combat text reporting mods have higher level out of the box configuation options (check boxes, for example), that make some customization easy without requiring in-depth customization and knowledge of what keywords are appropriate to use?

Further, does anyone have tips on how to best use one of these mods to segregate the different types of incoming/outgoing effects so that at a glance you can tell what's going on over the past 8-10 seconds (am I getting heals? Just hots or big ones? Am I taking huge spike damage? Blocking a lot of incoming damage? Still standing just barely inside a flame patch left by the Flame of Azzinoth I'm tanking? Receiving mana back from JoW, or is the healadin slacking off and Wisdom isn't judged?).

Parrot and MSBT (MikScrollingBattleText) are more or less on the same level of customizability. MSBT might present it in a more user friendly way, but that depends on personal taste.

However, you should filter incoming and outgoing events, i have most stuff disabled that isn't necessary to know. I also have mine set up to only show power/health gains >+200, that will filter a lot of incoming/outgoing "trash" gains.
You can also mess around with the merging option of several incoming/outgoing events, i.e. consecration on 10 mobs won't show up as 10 numbers for "196" but something like "1960 damage (10 sources)". This also works for power gains, if you want to show them all, without using a filter for low gains, but display them together in "one big gain".

You can also completely disable in-game damage/healing (the one that normally shows up over your target) and only show it in one of your scrolling frames.

If you want to see incoming/outgoing events for the past ~10seconds, you should try eaves drop, a combat log that displays information in a scrolling text like style.

OR

Use 2 vertical scrolling frames for incoming/outgoing events on the sides of your character/screen that scroll at slowest possible speed, thus displaying information for a longer period.

Does anyone have a working version of Demon (or a viable alternative)? I'd like to see when, for example, a healadin is keeping his judgement up or not.

Further, Parrot is looking a lot better after some tweaks based on the suggestions (and the discovery of "configuration mode" where you can drag the scroll areas around the screen without messing with X/Y offset values), so thanks for the help earlier.

However, if anyone has an idea what mod might be feeding messages to the Notification area of Parrot whenever I come off any global cooldown, that say something like "Protection Tree is now Free! Retribution tree is now free! Holy tree is now free!" and a couple of more odd ones, please let me know. Would certainly save some time spent disabling mods one by one and logging in and out repeatedly. I'll also post the answer once I discover it, if no one knows off the top of their head.

I stopped using it and swapped to Dogtags.

If you are using a unit frame that supports dogtags, then check out the dogtag thread for debuff monitor. It's pretty easy to setup and looks how ever you want it.

I have my own question;

Since 3.0 I've noticed a lot of addons no longer allow me to place them on fubar, For instance, Bigwigs and ORA2 both don't have the option, bugsack has topped being on fubar and several other addons that were staples on fubar no longer sit down there. Any clues as to why this might be?
This was addressed recently here already. Take a look here (at the top of this page, basically).

Looks like some addons are relying on a 3rd party addon to broker between them and FuBar (and other bars) so they don't have to code to various specific bars in every addon they write, but can just rely on common code.

I hope this is the right place for this.

What I'm trying to accomplish is a custom texture to be applied as a border on the top of an existing panel, or to create a panel simply comprised of the custom texture which I can just lay over a panel. As far as I understand, kg-panels offers this type of capability, but modifying an image to a form that is usable is totally outside of my own capabilities.

I've managed to create the basic idea:

The following problems arise:
-removal of the black background to a transparent one that preserves only the bones
-creating a(n) image(s) with the proper dimensions (powers of 2 for kg-panels; I play @ 1280x1024)

Some of you may recognize the texture as that from the undead interface for Warcraft 3, with slight modification. I've seen some people who have the night-elf border, but I can't find any follow-up of how to apply what I want.

I realize a lot of the modification can be done with Photoshop, but I have literally no idea how to use photoshop. Any ideas?

Take a look at this and you get an idea of how to implement textures.

WoW can handle textures size if they are 32x32, 64x32, 64x64, ... 512x256, 512x512 up to 1024x1024.

Wich means if you want to use something like this, you have to cut it into pieces. Let's say 3 pieces 512x256 each.
With a black background and the texture part on top of it.

After this, you need to work with alpha channel, to make things look transparent (the black stuff you don't want to see). Everything coloured black in an alpha channel is 100% hidden (aka non-transparent). You "scale" visibility/transparency with grey colours, the lighter the more transparent. White means the part of picture where your alpha channel is white is 100% visible.

I.e. in this case make everything black in the alpha channel except for the part where the actual texture is.

Hope this helps to point into the right direction, kind of difficult to explain it in English, sorry.

The pointers are much appreciated. I had found some tutorials similar to this that I could not follow. It seems I will have to at least learn a bit about Photoshop to get this accomplished.

healbot question

I have recentlly heard people claim to have been keylogged or hacked and blame it on the mod healbot. I and several people I know use healbot, and I just wanted to post here and see if anyone knows of a verified case of this happening. Is it even possible that a UI mod could be active and log your login information?

It seems more likely to me that they had a cheesy password or worse had shared it, and I get no where trying to google healbot and hacked, but I know one guy who lost an entire account, so I wanted to check it out as much as possible.

No. If the addon you're using is just a set of Lua files and you aren't (being dumb and) running some executable on the side, it has exactly no access to your login info.

Hey guys im working on rebuilding my UI and I am running into a little snag. I am trying to parent an eePanel to a bar. I am using Bartnder4 and I can get the panel to parent just fine but the actual art for my butons appears to be on a different strata than the bar itself and it falls through the back of the panel. So I am left with what appears to be a set of empty buttons sitting on top of my panel. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this...I assume i need to change the strata of the bartender bar somehow but I cant find a way to do it.

Edit - Nevermind thanks guys but I got it figured out
