Aiding Spectators

In the gameroom at work, we used to play Warcraft 3 & Day of Defeat. People enjoy watching while eating their lunch. Recently, almost everyone switched to WoW.

I've tried to explain the game to many people. I tell them about the objective of the battle ground that I'm in. Sometimes, I'll try to give a play-by-play. However, overall I think WoW is a much harder game to understand than a first person shooter or a real time strategy game.

Are there any mods or interface settings which make the game easier to spectate, particularly for people who don't play the game themselves?

The only thing that immediately comes to mind is some type of scrolling battle text mod, SCT MSBT, or Parrot. Letting your viewers see the incoming and outgoing attack names and damage numbers in a larger display. Perhaps adjusting your unitframes to change colors based on which classes you have targeted would help as well.

WoW lunch break! Nice.

I would suggest simplifying the UI as much as possible so spectators can clearly see your characters health bar, and targets health bar.

Also as suggested above, nice clear SCT which doesn't cover 90% of the play screen.

Another thing is to subliminally position the camera while fighting as though you are watching a movie. I suggest this to give viewers a good overview of the area and surroundings.

Wow, if you don't mind me asking, where do you work? That sounds like a fantastic environment. Anyway, I don't know quite how to help you with the real-time explanations of the battlegrounds (short of hiring a personal sportscaster to announce on the BG), however, you could always use the PvP explanations on the WorldofWarcraft site to help them comprehend just what goes on.

my wife watches over my shoulder sometimes while I play, and it seems like there are 2 mods that she focuses on to figure out whats going on. DBM is deftinately the key to enabling her wow-backseat-driving; she'll tell me "HES GOING TO PUMMEL!" on VR, and "ANOTHER ROCK THING IS GOING TO DROP!!" on prince. She'll also say, "TELL THOSE GUYS TO HURRY UP TO STABLES!!!". its quite fun.

The other thing that helps her out a it is the way that I use pitbull; in raids, I have my MA list in a vertical group, and my main tank in a horizontal group, with their targets below them; then i turn on interaction lines, and it draws an easy to read graph of who's healing who and who's damaging what. She can quickly see, "Gruul switched targets to that other guy, but the healers were still healing the first guy.. thats why the first two tanky thingees died so quick".

I'd love to see a Screenshot of this setup.
