Will PT3Bar check if things are usable in the current area? Stuff like BG potions/bandages or SSC pots I mean.

Any links to this file? Everything I find even on Google links to Toadkiller's version. Also, when I tried to revert to the previously posted file http://files.wowace.com/AutoBar/AutoBar-r51227.7.zip I get a green box in the middle of my screen but no autobar. This is after I deleted all config files from the WTS folder and the addon itself prior to installing the linked version.

Originally I disliked the new Autobar a great deal, but I think you'll find that if you spend some time with it that it's a lot better than the old one. It would probably be better if some of the default behavior was removed, but the flip-side of that is that new users wouldn't realize the functionality existed at all if it's not used by default.

Ultimately I think you'll find that the time you would spend getting another solution the way that you like it would be a larger investment than getting Autobar set up, even if it's not exactly what you want at this point.

My problem with Autobar (and this may just be my own stupidity) is that it doesn't update quantities on the fly. If I log in with no/food water, the conjure buttons are on the bar. If I make two stacks of each, the conjure buttons are STILL on the bar and my new food/water is not in the pop-up.

If I /rl then my new/food water shows up, but if I drink and eat, I still show a quantity of 40 (or whatever). Is there some sort of "please update whenever something changes" option I'm missing?

While the new version of Autobar is useable, it's certainly moved way beyond it's own usefulness. Like many others I'm using the last version before the recent format change.

The new configuration menus are unecessarily complex and introduce functionality that is dubious at best and irrelevant at worst. The old method of just drag/drop items into a slot on the config screen and a basic menu of combined item icons was perfect .

I've no idea why the current developer felt that a complete rewrite was necessary.

A simple in-game PT3Bar button editor, and perhaps a feature in PT3Browser to "Create a PT3Bar button with this selection" would be fabulous. Beyond that, the only grip I'm having with PT3Bar is that I have to manually adjust each button by dragging it if I don't want space between them. Adjustable spacing, alpha, and simpler button editing are all the mod needs to fully replace the functionality I used Autobar for to begin with.

Loving PT3Bar! Thanks for the tip.

I'll agree with Noraj, the buttons' placement is rather annoying to deal with especially if you're a complete perfectionist and need everything in your UI perfectly aligned =P
Using the built-in snap or align function (can't recall which, might be both together) made it a bit easier but it still needs a lot of work. I found using either can sometimes make buttons jump around the screen when you least need it during the placement adjustment.

As to PT3Browser, an option to display a specific item's ItemID would be great when you only want certain items instead of the whole category popping up on your button. Atm it only displays the ItemID when the item itself is unknown which isn't much help.
I found ItemID on Curse which works but I'd rather just have an extra line in my CowTip to do the job. Any idea if this is possible (looked at libDogTag-2.0 but found no such string) or if there is a mod that can display an ItemID in tooltips?

RatingBuster can display itemIDs and iLevel of items in the tooltip (in addition to rating break-downs, of course).

Edit: Havent' tested it with Cowtip, but it works great with TinyTooltip atleast.

Mmm... will have to check why it isn't being displayed then since I do have RatingBuster installed as well. Prolly disabled or something silly like that.
Thanks for the tip ('scuse the pun =P )

RatingBuster does not show the itemID by default.

Turn it on with

/rb itemid

or

/rb optionswin

Forgive my laziness of not going through and trying the various addons myself.

For me the big issue whenever ... what patch was it? 2.0? ... when Gello's AutoRack came out was that Autobar et al could no longer switch which item a button was assocaited with in combat. For me, the main use of autobar-like mods was the ability to make a button that took my biggest healthstone if i had one and it wasn't on cooldown, and took a pot otherwise.

Are any of these able to update the buttons in combat? I'm sick enough of mashing F1-F5 to hit whichever comsumable comes first to puy on the lua hat and clean up autorack for 2.3.2... but i'd really rather not, as I know it will probably work for 1 patch and then i'll just end up staring at wishing people weren't asking me to fix it.

The macro interface can do you a world of good in replacing health buttons.
