Dock (OPEN beta)
Thanks to everyone's support, especially here on the EJ boards. Dock is now ready for an open beta, let the bug finding commence.
You'll be able to find the latest 'stable' betas at:
WoWInterface Downloads : Ace: Interface Enhancements : Dock
Dock | World of Warcraft Addons | Curse
Work-in-progress, or experimental beta builds for the brave will be found at:
Index of /Dock/
For those of you going "huh, what's Dock?" here's the description:
Dock is an addon that, as the name suggest, allows you to shrink and dock other frames into it. On mouseover frames can be zoomed in letting you take a good look at their contents.
Features:
Virtually infinite amount of docks, or just one if you'd like
Practically any frame can be docked by just dragging and dropping
Highly customizable: colors, animations, orientations and more
Tabbing feature that lets docks be collapsed even further
Load on demand configuration, no reason to waste that memory
You can view a video of Dock here:
YouTube - Dock Preview 2
You can view a video of Dock's tabbing features here:
YouTube - Dock preview 3
The Dock wiki with FAQs is here:
http://www.wowace.com/wiki/Dock
Dock is still considered beta, please treat it as such. Report bugs as you find them.

Downloading a few things I've never had before (because of screen aesthetics) and Dock is handling it all wonderfully with no hit to FPS or memory. Fantastic mod and well worth the wait.

Ok, sounds good.
Just related to elk buff mods, when you drag the bars into the dock, it'll only accept one until you drag the second in, but they're still tied together, so you end up with a big bar attached to your dock. I also managed to break it completely by somehow removing the buff monitor, I had to reload UI to get dock to accept new frames. I didn't get any error messages related to this.
Everything else looks good, just the elk buffs acting up. If someone with more technical acumen wants to play around with the same setup they might have more luck telling you exactly what went wrong, my expertise basically stops at "FING BROKEN!".

So I believe its a bug, enabling tab mode and using "simple minimap" on a dock that gets tabbed has some weird results~
Like the minimap just sort of hangs out in a random spot where the dock is while untabbed and smaller then when it is in the dock
Also my friend suggested adding numerical boxes to the sliders so you can input exact values, although this really doesn't bother me : )
Thanks for probably the best mod i've seen in a long time
EDIT: so after messing around with it, it didn't seem obvious, is there a way to still be able to interact with chat frames while they are docked? like click / ctrl click items?
EDIT2: I keep losing assessment windows to dock. Like i go to restore them or more likely i hit the wrong button and i restore all frames during which i lose an assessment window.

So, I'm noticing that quite a few frames get the "This window is too large to fit into the dock" when Tab feature is selected, but when it's not there isn't an issue; the frames I experienced this problem with were the blizzard default chat frame, the Bongos bag frame, and the CTBuffmod window.
Other than that, major kudos to making this. It's already given me a TON of screen real estate and I'm sure as it gets updated/I learn how to fiddle with it it'll gain me even more.

Another issue with Elk is that when you log out it'll move your buffs out of the dock again, and you have to move them back in.

Only thing I've found so far is closing a window while it is being animated closes the window but when the animation should be finished, it opens again.
I did this with the quest log.
Docked it.
While it was animating un-docking, I X'd it out.
Then when the animation would be finished it re-appeared.
Not sure if that's fix-able.
Also, great mod. Have been using it for about 15 minutes but I can already see my self using it forever.
Just trying to figure out the best way to optimize scrolling over the docked items to zoom in the most.

Thanks for this awesome addon
2 problems :
- Map modified whith simpleminimap don't shrink when docked, it still have the same size in or out the dock,
- The config menu in "dock" sometimes fade and no option can be selected. we have to close the config menu and open it again.
i discover that many of my addons are "secured" :'( (like "Palatank" )

Do you have "lockdown" enabled? It does shrink for me, but mouseover zoom doesn't seem to work with it.

To summarize some bugs:
there seems to be several issues with simpleMinimap and ebb.

You can actually click the number below the slider and then type in your own values.

It's a little more difficult than you might think. I'm adding a checkbox under the advanced options next release that should let you do it.

Hrm, first I've heard of that, if you can track down any more specifics would be very helpful.

Should only happen with Blizzard frames, I'll add a check so it doesn't become visible again.

I'm not able to reproduce this, can you give me the rough size of your dock (wide/tall), orientation and anchor settings? Both the tab and regular docking size check is the same function, so I'm not sure why it would fail in one and not the other.

Fades as in greys out, or fades as in partially transparent? Do you run other Ace3 mods? If so you may need to update them.

Thanks for the release Kameril.
I've tried it and it's wonderful for a minimalist UI
But, I've a 'simple' bug. I prepared a dock for 3 fixed chat windows, like this :
When it auto-tabbed, i get this :
Any place I put the Tab, it's doing the same thing

It's actually failing in both, sorry. The dock is approx 30pixels wider than the bongos bar. The dock is approximately 150x450; vertical orientation and anchored to the right side of the screen.
I'm also having the issue of the buff window (CTBuffmod) coming un-docked on logout.

The sizing algorithm may be off by a few pixels when the dock is extremely tall and thin (which I'll fix later). However, it should barely be noticeable, did you read the wiki on how frames resize when they're docked?
Also, I updated the wiki with an explanation of why CTBuffmod would stay docked between sessions.

Using the latest version from files.wowace.com I couldn't reproduce any of the issues. Are you using a different version? The frames would dock independently without a problem. Also EBB not staying in the dock is the same issue as CTBuffmod, check the updated wiki.

I keep getting the "Frame is too large to be docked, please resize dock" message as well.
One of the things that I found out about dock is that just make it HUGE for the initial docking of the frames and resizing the zoom on them. Then after the frames are docked you can shrink the Dock Frame and all the frames within it shrink too. Then it works like normal after the initial time the frame has been docked for me, I dont have any issues jumping it back and forth from my main screen to the dock. Its just a weird initial docking problem.
Another issue I have been having is when downloading through WAU "without externals" to update breaks the library links within the mod. Also I cannot find the associated libraries through the WAU to load the mod "without externals." Its an easy fix to manually work around, just going to files.wowace.com and downloading the entire package there, but its just an extra step in my daily updating :P.
I have been waiting a long time for this to open, and am very pleased with its overall performace so far.
