Having recently (2 days ago) rerolled from hunter to Shaman, I needed a new Interface. So I started working on a interface focussed on healing in raid and party environment. The following is the result of some messing around.
And the addon listing:
Ill soon get hold of a in action raid picture, but the layout remains practically the same in it.

Reason: mislinked addon list
I look at that shot and keep thinking the same thing: So much wasted space. Empty spots/bars in the action bar/totem area. Massive party/player/target frames.
You could easily shrink and rearrange a bit of stuff and save yourself some prime screen estate.
I'll assume that Feliz is your focus as well as your target, but it seems a bit odd to have him in there twice. Together with the party screen and target screen, it means you have your Earthshield showing in three places too.
Ignorance can be solved with a book. Stupidity requires a shotgun and a shovel.

Yes you are correct that feliz is my focus as well as my target. The high one is the focus, and the bottom one the target.
The huge bars are a choice for me. One thing that plagued me with my older UI which I used to heal on my druid was tunnel visioning on the health bars. Now they are the focus of the screen, I can just glance at them to have an idea of the health, and still be able to look at what happens around me.
I do agree with you on the action bar/ totem area in that it can use a bit of refining, I expected to have more spells to fill it with.
updated shot showing:
- different font on UF's and other DK classcolor.
- Resized buffs/debuffs and different font.
- Showing 1 party member (Lost health and Name are both on mouseover.)
- Focus (has both 6 buffs and debuffs which show up above the frame, with a little spacing. Castbar goes beneath the frame.)
- Pet action bar
- Pet UF
Fairly straightforward, still a work in progress. Need to work on the scaling of things and the placement a bit better. Center of the screen is a bit crowded/busy at the moment, but I'm working on making it clearer.
Addons:
QuestHelper
Satrina's Buff Frames
Grid
ClassTimer
oUF (using a modified oUF_Lyn layout)
Chatter (lower left, obv.; covered for the SS)
Bartender4
SimpleMinimap
ClosetGnome
ButtonFacade (using a slightly modified Roth skin)
Finally found the time to work on my UI a bit again.
Stepped away from Vertical Frames as, quite frankly, they're a pain in the rear. Stepped away from Dogtags for Buffs/Debuffs, as it gets a bit annoying constantly having to add things you need to watch and it wreaks havoc when you are in e.g. Oculus where you have to watch special debuffs.
Need to work on the Raid Layout still (read: need to re-align Grid). One thing I -would- appreciate is some pointers on how to reduce memory load. I tried rMods a while ago, but never got them sorted the way I wanted to, but the overall load is higher than I'd want it to be.
Party w/ target and cast:
List of addons:
Fonts used:
Enigmatic (came with SCT)
Eurostile
Visitor (pixel font for Lynstats)
Covington Exp

Only a few things that I would definitely take away for less memory usage:
Aloft: (takes up a huge about of memory and you don't really need it, do you? If you really want something like that I've heard that evl_nameplates or something like that was alot more memory friendly, don't know if it's updated any more though.)
Beql: Do you really need that extended questlog? I wouldn't use it.
Decursive: In my opinion not needed when using Grid since it's very easy to see debuffs with that.
SCT: Even though it probably doesn't differ much, I think MSBT takes up less memory.
Other than this, there's not really much I can think of, and remember, these are just my suggestions, hope they helped
Problem with Aloft is that I tend to tank most of the times - far as I know, evl's doesn't incorporate threat. It's definitely something I'm considering dropping, but haven't worked out what for.
Beql I used largely to move the quest anchor (and it was somewhat useful), but looking at its memory use and the fact that Chinchilla does pretty much do the same thing, I think you're right.
Decursive saves me two hot keys and I only have grid showing when in raids. I'm not a healer, so my use of Grid probably could be improved upon. I'll look into it.

Aloft uses way less memory then it shows in the screenshot, the reason Aloft shows so high memory useage is because it's the first Ace adon that gets loaded, so all the Libraries are loaded with it. If you remove it, the memory useage will just go to the next addon in your list.
Neza, nice UI there. I'm almost tempted to try that myself, but I'd have to do something with my raid UFs for healing. Might try something off of this.
It's nothing special, but it works, and is quite functional.
Yes, those are the blizzard bars. I killed off all artsy textures and supplied my own.
Addons used.. still lots of dev tools in there, ah well. Not everything ist active, who'd want to have QuestHelper active during PvP or a raid >_>
-ParaUI_*-Addons were created using my very own diseased mind :p
-kMap modified
-TidyMinimap modified off version 0.4
-SimpleUnitFrames modified to supply GlassUnitFrames with ze healing and damage numbers.
-QualityID modified, just fixing some nil errors.
-ArenaPointer modified, horizontal offset was kinda wrong and thus obscured the team names.
