So what I'm curious about is what's OPie's memory/resource usage vs Geist? I like that Geist is so simple, but OPie really looks quite promising.

As a warlock with 100,000 abilities, this addon is quite nice. Not having the dynamic buttons isn't a deal breaker. But if the author can do the dynamic buttons, this will easily become one of my favorite addons.

While I think having different ranks of health stone for example condense would be good, I think having things like mana biscuits disappear when you don't have them would be bad. One of the things that makes these types of addons really great is after some use you get used to where things are and the actual visual aspect becomes transparent. Having to actively look for the item you want every time you hit your ring key would be slower than making a separate cumbersome keybind.
Now making one giant ring for a lot of those oddball abilities (Teleport: Moonglade, Soothe animal, etc) is a really nice space saver, but really who had those things on the action bar anyway?

Just a quick question about the addon: are you able to put macros on the rings or only spells/items?

It's pretty simple to make a macro that will use the highest rank Health Stone you have available and to just use that on your ring instead.
I'll be giving this a whirl on my Holy Priest just as a way to throw all those oddball spells somewhere that I don't have to search for in my action bars (Mind Vision, Mind Soothe, etc). Looks like a much simpler and prettier solution than scrolling through my action bars to find the one I dumped them all on.

Yes, macros can be put on the rings too.

As of version 0.8, you are correct. As of version 0.7 which is when I used it, the mod did indeed overwrite your keybinds.

This is fantastic, in a matter of minutes i could remove most of my action bar buttons and deleted my totem addon.
I'm using 4 rings now: potions, fire totems, misc. totems, and a ring for frost-, earth shock and purge.
I will probably juggle some things around over the next few days but that shouln't be a problem thanks to the great interface.

I've tried this out for my consumables and utility spells and its great. One thing I'd like though is to be able to do though is have a 'click to confirm' option. As an example at the moment I hit my hot key and the ring appears, due mainly to fat finger issues (and the fact that other windows dont require you to keep the hot key held to display them) I've often used a potion or food item unintentionally.
What I'd like to do is to hit my hotkey once to make the ring appear, and then have it stay there until I click the mouse to confirm the item/spell I'd like to use. Is that possible?

Just change the menu to appear at the location of your mouse instead of center screen. That'll prevent you from using the mouse gesture aspect unless you really want it.

I love it, two raids with it and I can't live without it! It would be nice if one could skin the buttons with CyCircled/Button_Facade!

Are you using it for any Rogue-specific abilities? I'm definitely going to try it for potions and consumables, but I can't think of any good Rogue applications.

Haha, I came here just to say that. I think someone also mentioned changing the alpha [it would be nice] and scale, though I found the screen dimming option to be pretty nice as a substitute at the moment.

POISONS.
This has saved me w/r/t poisons, my bars had been so cluttered ever since I gave up on autobar.

Yes, Potions, Trinkets & Drums, Mounts, Food and Bandages. Nothing 'rogue-only' but it's a lot more smooth than Geist and has a more intuitive use in combat.

Ok, I made a potion bar (Health pots, healthstones, haste pots, bandages), poison bar (self-explanatory), and tradeskills (self-explanatory also).
The option that says to simplify all items with the same name (I can't remember the exact name) in the ring options, would that mean that when I use a healthstone it will use any rank of healthstone in my inventory, and I won't have to add the different ranks to the ring based on what warlocks are in the raid?
Overall, I like it

You'll have to use a macro to ensure you use max rank HS or whichever one is available, there's a few pretty common ones that will use the ranks in order, then one of those ogri'la stones, and possibly a health potion also.
Here's an example (using item IDs)
#showtooltip item:22103
/use item:22105
/use item:22104
/use item:22103

I installed the addon yesterday and played around a bit with it on my mage. In general, I like it, but there's one small problem (which might just be me): I couldn't get the "Mage transport" ring to correctly cast portals. In the config screen, it tells me to use a modifier key, and sure enough, with a modifier key held down, the icons in the ring changed to portals. But when I mouse-gestured to one of them, nothing happened. Keeping the ring open and clicking on the icons just caused me to cast teleport.
Anything obvious I'm overlooking there?

I tried this out after seeing it highlighted on omgphatloots.com - the version I tested was terribly buggy (I couldn't make custom rings for some reason), but as that looks to be fixed now I am looking forward to trying it out again. It looks like a fantastic addon - aesthetically pleasing and highly useful.

According to the author of the addon this bug should be fixed in a future release, as stated here.

Is it possible to have the same ring with different slots per character? My main is my Rogue, but I have a Shaman alt who has different consumables. Would it be possible to have items such as health potions and haste potions on my Rogue, with mad alchemist potions and mana potions on my Shaman, but add healthstones and bandages together? I know I could make separate rings, but I'm looking for a way to just use one so that when I add new items (rejuvenation potions from the daily quest, for instance) it will be applied to both characters.
Edit: Also, would it be possible to link rings together? I want to try this for my Shaman rather than using a traditional totem bar addon. I was thinking the first click brings up a 4-icon ring with each element of totem (Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, you could throw in Heart if necessary), and depending which you activate would send you to a different ring with all your standard totem buttons.

Nested rings? Meh, maybe. If you could find out the OPie commands, maybe you could make macros with /script Open Ring X, something along those lines. However, the nature of the addon is that it casts things on the upstroke of the hotkey, so if you weren't holding a hotkey...? Maybe he'll introduce it later, because it doesn't seem as though that would work now.
As far as the rogue/shaman shared ring, you could probably make this and just add the items on both characters. I haven't tried it, but that seems like it would work.

Good call on the down/upstroke thing. I didn't notice that.
And I know I could just have a Consumable ring for my Rogue and a Consumable s ring for my Shaman, but I'm wierd and I don't like mixing keybindings. For example, my bartender3 setup has all the same hotkeys on every bar for both characters, I just rearrange my icons to match the binding they're set in.

The first thought I had with this addon was, "What if you could start it up with 'alt', then move through different rings using the mousewheel while you hold alt down."
Even without that though, this just jumped into my must have list.
