OPie - Radial Actions Addon
Note: I am NOT the author of this mod! Haven't seen this addon mentioned in any threads yet, and it certainly deserves more publicity, so here we go.
Recently came upon an addon called OPie, and I have to say this is one of the most well-built, functional, and down-right sexy addons I've ever come across.
As per the official site's description:
|
OPie is a radial action-binding addon for World of Warcraft. The addon allows you to bind groups of infrequently used actions to a ring that appears when you trigger it using a hot key / mouse binding.
|
How exciting, right?
Videos, screenshots: OPie Gallery
Download: OPie Downloads (Currently in beta.)
However, even the videos/screenshots do not do this addon justice. Install it, login, and hit ALT-T (tradeskills) and ALT-R (raid markers) for a quick demo of how... amazing this is.
Interface Options -> Addons -> OPie for configuration. It's ready to go for almost (all?) classes, though.
It works off mouse gestures. You don't even have to click the abilities/items, just gesture towards them.
You can make custom rings, simply by clicking and dragging abilities, items, whatever into the options window. Change icon color hues, ring rotation, order. It's all there. Can also share/send rings ingame.
You can also have the ring show up at mouse location, choose to show cooldowns, dim the game screen, show rings only on certain characters or classes, and a few other things.

I found this about two weeks ago. its got some bugs (its in beta) and right now cannot do recursive rings.
Be warned that the moment you install the mod it has some default keybinds that will overwrite your keybinds. I'm also pretty sure its responsible for 2 crashes of my WoW client.

Initial impressions seem good, although I can't quite work out how to amend the default rings (i.e. to put travel form on the druid form ring), although the custom rings work pretty well.
I was using Geist previously, which was great, but this has a deal more flexibility, and looks fantastic too.

Been using it a while, it is quite brilliant for us space savers, reducing the amount of randoms on your action bar. But in no doubt someone will start crying that it uses "too much memory" :-)

I've been using SimpleRaidIcons for ages for marking during raids, and it's a fiendishly useful tool once you get used to the radial menu style. Look forward to giving this a shot, but is there any way to not have it overwrite your keybinds? Or at least to find out what keybinds it's overwriting so they can be reverted?

It doesn't remove all existing keybindings if that's what you're implying. It has around 4 default keybindings (depending on class) if you're unlucky enough to have one of those already binded it overwrites it. But going into the config menu reveals what's binded to which ring, so the keybindings that changed should be immediately apparent.

As far as I know, it only has in-place keybindings for ALT-T (Tradeskills), ALT-R (Raid Markers), and Middle Mouse (Stances, etc) - but none of them overwrote my own (Bartender4). They were, however, in place and active on a new character. Perhaps there's a check for pre-existing keybindings now?
edit: Beaten.

Well, the reason I was concerned is that I do use a few Alt modified keybinds, but not on R and T. So if that's the extent of the keybind changes it won't affect me. Thanks.

A very nice addon for saving space. It has completely eliminated the need for a totem addon for me. I have 3 main rings, one for caster totems, one for melee totems and one for heroism/drums/potions. It's lacking some configuration options that I'd like (alpha, size of the ring etc.) but nothing big. Very good addon for being in beta.

For Druids it overwrites Mouse 4 which I believe defaults to autorun.
Very stylish addon, but a bit buggy with custom rings at the current release.

This is pretty amazing. Was able to put my stones, pots, pet summons all on this bar and it will take a bit of time to get used to but after a week or two, should be almost instant.

This is not true. It does not overwrite any keybindings in it's current release. When you open the options it'll show the keybinds it defaults to grayed out (or yellow, can't remember now) that you already had bound, which means it didn't overwrite your bind.

His actionbar is normal sized. It has 12 buttons. He probably has a lower UI scale which is why it's so small.

naw, his actionbar is missing bag buttons and the micro-menu. It only has "action buttons" on it...

A quick browse of actionbar addons in on wowinterface brings up Roath Actionbars
WoWInterface Downloads : Action Bar Mods : Roath ActionBars
this isn't the right thread to ask about that, however.

Anyway back on subject. I am going to give OPie a shot as a necrosis replacement and see how it works out.

Used this some more tonight, for a quick heroic Magisters Terrace tanking run, followed by general skinning grinding on my enhancement shaman. Massively more intuitive than Geist in action, and as I memorise the location of the various things I have popped in the different rings, it will get much faster. Having *fast* access to all my CC spells whilst in kitty for Delrissa was phenomenal, from shifting out to hibernate the hunter pet, to a fast cyclone to save the mage when the warlord sheep broke early, then back in to kitty in a couple of mouse gestures?
Coupled with some extra buttons on my Logitech Revolution mouse, this really saves me a massive amount of screen estate, looks great, and performs well. So far, it's a keeper.

I have been using this for a week or so, and I love it. I primarily use it on my horde druid. It is very handy for all my shapeshifts.

This is nice, but is there any way to make it have a "smart" way of adding things? For instance, for a consumables tab, it would be great it if instantly added conjured things like HSs and mana biscuits to the ring. Sort of like an autobar.
Other than that, seems like a nice mod. Dunno if I'm sold quite yet, but I just may be.

Once they add support for smart things i.e. showing items I only have, so if I don't have mage biscuits, it doesn't show. This mod will be amazing. I haven't been able to get it to work for that though.

Exactly. If it did that I would be all over this addon; until then, it's just kind of a gimmick addon to me. I, as a priest, can do a lot of it with fadeout bars. Should really give this a look.

I'm really liking this. What it's done for me is turn my mouse 4 and mouse 5 into very flexible ways to use pot-cooldown and HS-cooldown items. Wherever my mouse cursor is on the screen, I can use Mouse4+FlickRight to drink a mana pot, or FlickLeft to drink a health pot, etc. As a result, I'm removing buttons from my interface, which took longer to activate and wasted screen space by showing redundant cooldowns.
A bug report, if this is the proper place: Changing the Rotation angle for a custom bar seems to work, but when I change it back to zero and press save, they stay at their rotated angle until I relog or reloadui
