Has anyone tried Diamond Threat Meter?

As I've recently been getting fed up with unreliability issues with Omen (people not showing up, threat dramatically off, etc) I decided to start looking to see if there are any alternatives and I came across Diamond Threat Meter, in principal it looks fairly interesting, but I'm curious if any guilds are currently using it and what their experiences with it are.

If you're so interested, try turning on CPU profiling and watch your CPU cycles drown. This addon uses more cpu that ktm whilst idle, never mind during combat. The idea of processing everyone's threat in one meter is a good one, but in this case badly implemented with weak coding. I tried helping the author in it's infant stages but got ignored.

So my opinion is currently pretty negative, yet, I've never had a single issue with Omen.

Switched to DTM when Omen was fucking about, requiring everyone to update every five minutes and having incompatibility issues with older versions. Always fun if your Main Tank upgraded 5 minutes before the raid and has a different version from everyone else, who got it 15 minutes before the raid.

It is very CPU intense, but I found simply switching to DPS mode already made quite some difference. Haven't had any issues with it being off yet, though apparently some find it hard to configure.

It's compatible with both KTM and Omen and, what sold it to me, basically anyone running Pitbull or some other Ace mods will show up without even having a threat meter.

Omen is great and fixes get implemented quickly.

The upgrade thing was only when the combatlog system got radically changed. You just have to accept that addons are fan products. If you want your UI to work after all major Blizzard patches, use the default one.

The problem with Omen is the majority just download a full package (often from Curse, or WoWInterface), and don't have Threat 2.0 in a seperate folder.
And that caused all the compatible problems that occoured after 2.4.

Also, Omen had UI problems after switching to the new UI, but they been fixed for a bit over a month now.

Omen does have it's issues, and is updated alot...but I take the updates with a grain of salt in the fact that the author takes alot of time to make sure he releases a quality product, ya know?

Most of the problems with Omen, in my experiences, can be fixed by un-targeting your target and re-targeting, resetting Omen all-together or possibly dropping the raid group after the mob is dead, but might be a problem if you're on a boss, obviously.

But if you are going to try it please report back, I would love to hear how it goes =)

I am totally in love with DTM. So much that I had to make sure to make an account here to reply to this post. I'm more of the lurker to gather info type, but I really wanted to chime in on this.

But anyway... I do love DTM. Omen was driving me up the wall with it not working 90% of the time, though I updated it every time I logged in. As for DTM being heavy on resources, I wouldn't know. I built my own computer, and while I'm not going to sit here and brag on its specs, let's just say that it can handle anything. Maybe if you're running an old HP or Compaq, you may have a problem with this addon, I don't know.

I have always found this addon to be very accurate, and haven't had any problems at all with it not working. If you're having problems with Omen, I would say that this is the way to go.

Love this forum, always good to see some intelligent conversation, especially when you're used to the children at other sites.

If you're not seeing other people in Omen, either you or them are using old versions. Use the Version Checker option (it might require clicking a few buttons if you can handle that extreme configuration) and see. Yes updating kind of sucks, but Blizz is under no obligation ever to keep the API exactly the same and can (and does) change things and break mods easily. Be grateful that the Omen team are very talented and on top of this shit when it goes through.

The fact is, Omen is proven, widespread, solid, and the best threat meter. Man up and use it right, it's not complicated.

/edit: As for the version mismatching crying, the big problems were really only during the initial combat log changes. If they had slacked and slowly updated you all would have cried that it wasn't working and was taking too long. Because they pushed release after release in a short time, they got a working product out very quickly after there were drastic changes to the game.

Minor update - got fed up with DTM eating so much memory and FPS. Switched back to Omen and gained back 10-15 FPS.

I still think Diamond Threat Meter does work reasonably well, but it really hurt my computer's performance at some points (hello AoE packs in MH).
