I am not sure if this is allowed by in this forum, but I did not see anything saying you can’t,it is mod related so I am going to post. If I’m wrong feel free to toss this thread.


I have been looking for an add-on as a Resto Shaman for a long time to track chain heal stats. Specifically stats on how many jump CH performed and overhealing on various jumps. Any shaman can see the obvious uses of such an add-on, and how it could be used to make you a much better healer.


I even went so far as to try to start trying to do it myself. Levva gave me some start points, but frankly I just dont have the time or ability to write this. I am posting in hopes someone would take the idea and run with it or know of a mod that would already do it.


Chain Heal Monitor

Functions: Records total Chain Heal casts how many jumps each cast had, and the heal/overheal of each jump. Secondary calculations might include HPS and HPM averages for CH to evaluate efficiency

GUI: The GUI would be a single window with the numbers and maybe a reset button. Ace3 might be a good structure but that’s really not important.

Mechanism: The mechanism for this would actually be really simple. For the code, it would be a simple log parse. For each CH there is a log entry on each jump. These are sequential and through some basic testing it appears that they are never separated by other events

so for a CH event with 3 jumps you would see:

sproutshame's chain heal heals HurtPlayer1 for 5000
sproutshame's chain heal heals HurtPlayer2 for 2500
sproutshame's chain heal heals HurtPlayer3 for 1250

All the addon needs to do is parse the log looking for the 1st event, record the heal, then look at the next line if it is also a chain heal it records the cast a 2 jumps and records the amount healed. Repeat until you don’t have a chain heal event. (4 heals max obviously)



Thats it...its simple but the number are huge for any resto shaman. Being able to see what fights are best suited for CH, collect data on healing and overhealing on a per jump basis, and see if I am choosing the right spell in the right situation would allow me to fine tune play even more and help me adjust my casts to...well...be a better healer.
