Just a single bar showing your overall timer on the diseases you spread with Pestilence, while keeping the original bars in place as well, would be all the information you need.

The functionality is currently only really needed for Death Knights as far as I'm aware however, but it could be a useful option to have in case more abilities get added which apply a DoT effect to multiple mobs at once.
I personally like it as I rogue to see how many targets are affected by deadly poison (FoK). I already added the option to only show the dots of your main target which is mainly what it would do when I would add the option for an cooldown for the multi target version.

There are maybe a few little advantages by adding this option but this is not a high priority for me now. There are at least 3 other big steps befor I think about that and these are:
  • Spell and Item Cooldowns (they are in the options but not implemented yet) (added in Beta 7. Only spells are possible at the moment!)
  • Logarithmic scale for boss mods or something else that helps to show boss mod timers
  • Boss mod timers (DBM and BW)

BTW: If you are already using my addon then I would recommend updating to version Beta 6 Fix 4

You end up channeling for no good reason (unless for example Mind Flay's snare counts as a good reason). As soon as you lose channel time, you'll always lose at least the last tick.

i think there are often situations where you need both types of display - think of bossmods, trinket/equip/talent/enchant procs, maybe heroism/bloodlust from others - these things are static - so you would prefer a static view: bars on fixed position..

also on fixed position are the spells i use on my current target.. (healing or dps)
eg. my dot's.. so you have a static number of bars, for each dot a bar (or some could be combined) on a static position

i think the feature to focus(filter) the spells of your maintarget (curr. target) is very important. At the same time you may want to display dots/hots/buffs on a 'classic' (logarithmic) dynamical growing bar

my suggestion:
add 3 groups of bars from buttom to top:
1. bossmods (if you include them)
2. static view of my spells.. here are all singletons (trinkets, procs,..) and all my spells effecting (filtered to) my current target/focus - i think this is very effective for most boss fights to dps and have my bars in fixed locations
3. dynamic (growing) bars - here are multi target dots (for each mob one bar), multi target hots,..

i have no idea how it would be possible to have my buffs always in the same location if you have one bar for each dot on multi mobs.. i would like to have both features

and next topic.. just when you plan to make a dbm/bw like bossmod plugin
as a raid member i only activate the bars i'm interested in.. thats possible in most addons
as a raid leader i often need different notifacations from bossmods and end up having every warning/bar activated

but what i would really enjoy.. and not only at bossmods but at every bar we are discussing here is following feature:
temporary disable one bar until next login

so i can have every bar activated befor pull (think of an on demand loading like bigwig has) - so i see 3 bars for the bossmod.. and next to the bars a icon where i can easily say: ok, this bar i don't need today.. and hide it with a single click (maybe holding strg, alt, shift, whatever)

or i know im healing sarth addtank instead of maintank - so i simple hide the breath for today
same for some spells on static view: i don't want to have my trinket bars today because we are just running nax10 chilling eve - so i dont have to go into customizing menus and filter black/white list whatever

really like ongoing work on this addon ; )

What you are saying here is mainly what the addon does ...
fixed bars for:
buffs, cooldowns, (and in the future bossmods)
dots are static if you switch on the option to only use target dots + remove dots on target switch (the latest option is not tested yet but in the latest version included)
(flexible bars for: )
otherwise you will see all the dots from any target also if you are not targeting it (btw: Refreshing of Dots on targets you are not targeting is impossible with the bug in COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED ... that means mainly that things like FoK + deadly poison stacking is not possible to track)

To the temporary thing of disabling bars... that would be possible but only till the next ui reload... I won't build something that does delete your settings after a special amount of time.

If you did not see the link...

Edit: Looks like if I finally could fix the problem with bars overlapping. So if you are using the mod please consider updating to Beta 9 Fix 4.

Wanted to plug EventHorizon again, and thank the author for separating the classes out into subfolders. It made haxxing it to work for Elemental shamans very easy. Not that I *need* it as the game is now, but tracking the Totem of Wrath self buff will be much much easier with this mod when(if?) it goes live.

Tifi, excellent addon. Ive changed my local copy for a couple of different things, but Id like to know if I can color individual bars. I am now getting used to the look and can tell what is fading by its position in the module, but being able to apply slight colors to each individual bar/buff would really help.

I added envenom. Envenom when used puts a +poison application buff for a short period on you and I wanted to track it, and I ended up editing out tricks, as I was getting overwhelmed by the number of bars. But these are personal preferences and easy to change.

I don't understand what you mean by this, I couldn't find anything related to Totem of Wrath in the PTR change notes. Could you elaborate?

Wodahs, unfortunately it's still not possible to set different colors for different bars. I'm going to change how the class configs work, and this is one of the things that I will keep in mind: The ability to specify layout options for each bar.

For anyone interested, I've thrown together a quick Retribution module for EventHorizon, it can be downloaded here. I've been using it for the last week and a half or so, and thus far I'm liking it. I still have to play with some of the configurations available (bar height/time scale/etc), though there are definitely a few features I'd like.

One was mentioned earlier, the ability to color individual bars. Really, more an aesthetic thing, but something that I'd like. Another would be the option to toggle abilities realtime. The biggest applications of this for myself would be switching between JoL/JoW, and hiding Exorcism/Holy Wrath on non-undead mobs. It'd also be nice to hide my Hammer of Wrath bar until the mob I'm fighting is at 20%, or even to allow it to dynamically move higher on the list on said condition, though I understand if this simply isn't feasible due to UI restrictions while in combat. I'm also eagerly awaiting the GCD ticker from your newest video.

Anyway, keep up the excellent work. This is definitely one addon I'll be following.

All you have to do is set a spell id for the spell that's used to track the GCD. Look at the Priest config for an example, which uses PW: Fortitude:
	self.config.gcdSpellID = 1243
On a Paladin you could use Blessing of Might for example.

Tifi,

Can you provide some specifics on how to add an item to EventHorizon so that the correct icon displays for it? Also, I can get some timers to display properly, but one in particular seems to elude me... the Darkmoon Card: Greatness... any chance cards are not supported for some odd reason?

Thanks, this is an outstanding addon and I would hope you would reconsider an return to fulltime development of it.

This is no longer true. The new version of NeedToKnow (v1.2) now has an option to set all the bars in a group on the same scale, so that they deplete at the same rate.
