RhadaTip (gear and gem optimizer)

RhadaTip has evolved a lot since I've first opened this thread, and has now become a pretty powerful tool in my opinion. I'll update the following to better give the reader an idea of what RhadaTip is capable of.
  1. Item V.S. Item comparisons (to know how much dps this new badge item will grant to you, how many dkp you should bid on this newly dropped raid loot, etc).
1.1 Item V.S. Item comes with an auto filling socket mechanism.
    1.2 RhadaTip support trinkets comparisons.
  2. Full gear evaluation, and projected full gear value (as the result of swapping the tooltipped item with the currently equipped item).
2.1 This means that the item comparison is always accurate. Limiting the scope of the comparison only to the two items themselves will produce highly inaccurate results (as a consequence of passing the hit cap, breaking a tier set bonus etc).
2.2 Thus, RhadaTip supports the hit cap and tier set bonuses.
  3. The comparison between items and setups can go n items ahead of your current gear, up until the best in slot configuration if you want, by using the combination of RhadaTip and WoWEquip.
3.1 This is extremely useful. An item that is a small dps gain at the moment, might be a good dps gain (or a dps loss, for that matter) after having changed another item. As an example, an item drops (ie. a new pair of bracers). It is a small dps gain for you at the moment. You are only two emblems away from getting a new pair of legs. Before passing or bidding dkp, you might be interested in knowing what kind of dps gain those bracers would net to you also factoring in the new pair of leggings that you are about to get. Using RhadaTip and WoWEquip, that is possible.
3.2 Easy, on the fly comparisons between your full gear set and that one of other players.
  4. RhadaTip links your current setups to your currently active talent tree. Swapping the active talent tree will automatically swap all values within RhadaTip. This (for example) means no overhead for a RhadaTip user changing from restoration to balance before a raid.
  5. RhadaTip comes with a gem optimizer. The gem optimizer's use is twofold.
5.1 On the left handside it shows the best gem of each colour, based on your currently set scaling values.
5.2 On the right handide, it will compute for you the optimal gemming of any item, be it an item that you already own (and therefore might be already gemmed), or an item that you don't already own. It will also show what gain you will get by regemming, so that you can better evaluate if it is worth going for it.
  6. It comes with a collection of pre defined scaling values accessible by the /rt pv slash command. These values are mostly taken from ElitistJerks or SimulationCraft for maximum reliability and actuality.
6.1 When you log in with RhadaTip for the first time, it will compare your talents against those of the pre-set scaling values, and automatically load a template if there is a match.
  7. One-button-optimizer for the whole gear. Clicking this button, RhadaTip will scan your equipped items plus all the items in your bags, compute which combination will result in the highest gear xPS value, and equip it.

I've updated curse.com to version 2.0.7 to solve a dual spec numeric bug in the EquipCompare tooltips following a talent swap. I've also managed to fix the compatibility issue with Auctionator, which is coming with 2.0.8, together with healing classes' support.

Localization is on the other hand progressing slower.

Any chance it will support melee DPS as well in the near future?

Rhadamanthis 07/10/09 1:51 PM

That is the aim, but it is quite a lot of work to add all the other needed stats, gems, trinkets...

By the way, what caps would it need to be functional for melee too? Do melee have a yellow attack cap and a white one? Or they only care about the first?

It can depend on the class and spec, but generally speaking it's just the mainhand / special hit cap that matters. Likewise, expertise can vary in how much of an impact it has on overall DPS. Also, there's a very good chance that changes in 3.2 will alter these weights significantly for certain specs.

Oh another thing would be, how do you model the dps from weapons? Caster weapons are just like another item, you compute the dps gain from a weapon in the exact same way as you'd do as if it were a chest or leggings. What about melee? Just multiply the stats of the item for some scaling values?

You also have to take Normalization - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft into account, as well as figuring out which instant or on-hit attacks don't conform to it.

I'm almost done adding healers support. I just need some help to model trinkets like [Living Ice Crystals] now...

Nice addon Rhada. But after inputting all the values, the "Total gear DPS" didn't showed up in my tooltip (tiptac is what i used) instead it only show "DPS Gain"

I'm a warlock btw.

Could you try by disabling other tooltip enhancing mods, like tiptac, and see if it shows up properly?
Does the mod trigger any bug in the UI? If so, could you please post it so that I can look into it?

PS: I'll be m.i.a. for most of next week, but I promise I'll look into it as soon as possible when I get back.

jumanji 07/20/09 6:10 AM

yea disabled tiptac and which now is default. In fact it got worse, only shows "gain=165.4" and some part wasn't showing anything at all :(

Alright hope you fix this, have fun!

Rhadamanthis 07/21/09 7:38 PM

It must be some other addon then, yours is the first report of any compatibility issue since I updated it to version 2.0.8
Could you list or make a printscreen of all your active mods? Can you check if it bugs out without any mod but RhadaTip? I also tried to check your armory, unsuccessfully, are your gloves by any chance enchanted with Hyperspeed Accelerators ?

Rhadamanthis 07/27/09 11:57 AM

I've started adding support to the melee stats.

I still need help from melee players in understanding how to model the weapons though.

Is anyone interested?

Rhadamanthis 08/01/09 1:37 PM

I've uploaded the new version with some bugfixes and the melee support (minus a proper melee weapon model).

Rhadamanthis 08/07/09 2:18 PM

Uploaded the newer version tonight, which introduces the following changes:

- Fully compatible with the 3.2 game interface.
- Added support to melee weapons and bows.
- Added another line to the tooltip to better distinguish the Current Total Gear xPS" and the "New Total Gear xPS" obtainable by equipping the mousehovered item.
- Added all the 3.2 epic gems.
- Added the following 3.2 trinkets: Abyssal Rune, Banner of Victory.
- Added Bright Dragon's Eye.
- All Dragon's Eye gems aren't prismatic anymore.
- All Dragon's Eye gems have had their values adjusted to be in line with 3.2.
- Removed all the gems with Stamina from /rt rt.
- Fixed a spelling error in /rt sv.
- Fixed a bug caused by equipping the same item in both the mainhand and the offhand slot.
