Is there a thread for this already?

For discussion amongst people trying to get 2.0/BC UI's up and running.

I just started trying to copy by UI bit-by-bit into my TBC folder to see what would work. The first thing I tried was Bongos, which failed miserably. What's a good 2.0 action bar addon?

Will report on Ace in a few mins.

What major addons have you tried that work/don't work?

WoWInterface has a 2.0 section. I'm sure other sites has too, but that was where I went to find most of the stuff I needed for the PTR.

Edit: I used Bongos (2.0 version) on the PTR and those worked fine for me.

Yeah, but I don't want to feel like I'm building everything from scratch. I'm sure people have come across parts of their own UI that did or didn't translate over easily.

Huh, this said "no beta version."

Well--maybe someone could tell me whether using a Beta client to prepare a 2.01 UI would actually work? Or do I need get on the actual PTR somehow? Then this thread's probably done.

The only two action bar mods I had working on the beta server are bongos and trinity. Trinity had some problems with saving your setup. I started using the most recent version of Bongos last week, no problems yet.

the latest version of trinity correctly saves stuff now and I love how you set up keybinds with it.

It will, all of the API/LUA changes on beta should be going into 2.0 unless something changed recently.

That's because the author pays a lot more attention to WoWInterface, which is usually why I start my UI searches at WoWAce, then go to WoWInterface (for non-Ace stuff), then try UI.WoW or CurseGaming, as those two tend to have spotty updating, usually. WoWInteface tends to have the best general support for mods.

All the mods that are frequently updated looks like they have 2.0 versions or betas already, like Atlas, MobHealth3 and SCT. Unfortunately I also use some very nice old mods that aren't being updated, like:

* TheoryCraft is broken, in several ways. First of all there's some Lua 5.1 bugs, secondly the new WoW security model doesn't like it, and thirdly it doesn't support the new talents and mechanics changes. Since the author seems to have stopped playing, I mucked around a bit on the PTR trying to make it work. I managed to fix the two first categories of errors, but the spell calculation code is very complicated and not commented, making it hard to change the mechanincs and add new stuff :(.

* GroupButtons is broken too, being completely incompatible with the new way of casting spells in combat. The replacement DUB doesn't look like it'll be ready soon, and I've found no other action bar mods like it. I'll really miss this one, gotten very used to healing small groups with it. Can anyone recomment a replacement?

* AdvancedBagsPlus is also broken (noticing a trend here...), but I managed to fix that one too.

* BankItems is broken, couldn't figure out how to fix it.

* Possessions is broken, can't see what's wrong with it.

I can recommend TaintMapper (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...nt_Mapper.html) for those trying to fix addons themselves.

Anyone have any suggestions for a decursive replacement? As in, something that enables you to click on the raid frames to cleanse while also displaying clearly which units need it?

Has Bongo's fixed the "stealth/prowl" bug where your action bar 1 would disappear when you stealthed?

I used Grid tonight at Chromaggus to manually target and clean debuffs for the OT / DPS groups and it worked quite well. DM reported me as the priest with the highest number of dispels or whatever it calls them. It was very much a whack-a-mole style of playing but it will get better as I adapt to using Grid instead of spamming a dispel keybind, certainly not the doom and gloom that many are predicting.

So, yes, to stay on topic, take a look at Grid for your raid cleansing requirements.

Good to know Grid worked well. Question, is there any way I can stick with my CTRaid frames? Or will they not work at all? (I'm not 100% sure what dynamic means, whether it means frames that are constantly evolving (swapping) or if it also includes frames that change to reflect the fact that person has the debuffs) If I stuck with CTRaid (provided the frames still work), would I have to get something else to show who/what got poisoned?

Sadly, it's not even in the neighborhood but still a nice little addition. TC did a lot of things that just are hard to replicate now, from the UI itself to the informational display.

I am presently happy to be using Outfitter, Nurfed Combatlog (I am a long-time NUI user but having no saved settings is killing me for now), SCT/D, RatingBuster, TinyTip, SeriChat, CT_MailMod (I know, I just don't care), MobInfo/Health depending on character and so on. The ones I really miss are Fastcast, Gatherer, Autobar (although I hear it is ok now), Burn (defunct for me as frost anyhow), TC, Bigwigs, Whispercast, Decursive (god this sucks as a Mage) and a handful of small ones I layer on.

Things will work out eventually but my biggest gripe is now needing even more hotkeys to cover the functionality I am used to. No conditionals in combat is a kick in the pants at times.

To be honest, I don't really see why the loss of Theorycraft is a huge issue. Yeah, it was nice knowing the average damage of my spells on my warlock, but really, it doesn't seem like a huge loss knowing how much a Frostbolt or Corruption or Backstab should hit for. The average damage is something that should become generally very clear if you pay any attention at all to the damage you during combat or use any kind of parser tool.

As I understand it, there's now a macro function that's something like "/cast [target=mouseover] ability" (I saw it used as a means of dropping a Blind on someone you aren't targetting without losing initial target (and more importantly all CP). I don't see why that wouldn't work with Dispel Curse, Remove Poison, etc. The question would of course be whether or not it functions when clicking on raid frames.

For example, if I'm understanding the usage, you bind a key to 'Dispel Macro A', and upon triggering it (say, Ctrl-D) the thing you are mousing over will be dispelled without actually changing target, so you can continue to spam Frostbolt without losing your main target. It remains to be seen whether this functions for raid frames.

I also know there's a new 'Focus' unit-type, so, using the example of a Nef MT, you could designate that person as the 'Focus', and a macro to cast Dispel Curse on the 'Focus', in order to remove Veil of Shadows.

BigWigs and Theorycraft both work based on my own testing. BigWigs having no particular issues popping up at all.

Theorycraft had a strange issue with preexisting text being prefaced with what colour it was set to (Turning it into, say, '#C0.5,0.5,0.5# Rank 10'), but did basically work, though a small fix in one of it's for loops was needed. To get it working change "for k,v in TheoryCraft_SetBonuses[setname] do" to "for k,v in pairs(TheoryCraft_SetBonuses[setname]) do" in TheoryCraftGear.lua. Though obviously it's a bit behind the times due to new talents etc.
Oh and you need to bump it's version in the .toc to 20000.

Most AddOns which purely deal with information display, and of which the information they display hasn't been outdated due to new talents/mechanics, should actually be fairly simple to fix up. Just put the .toc up to 20000, log in, see if it pops up any errors. Most incompatability issues due to API changes have fairly easy to understand error messages (for example "string.gfind is obsolete use string.gmatch" is one of them), and if it throws an error message about attempting to index a table a fix like the one I posted above should usually fix it. A surprising amount of mods still work with a little bit of effort.

So, I assume that us lazy rogues who relied on addons to calculate/buy the materials for poisons and then make it for us are out of luck?
Or, was the new restrictions on "smart mods" just for mods that did things for you in combat?

I sure would hate to calculate how much I need of everything, then buy each stack, each vial etc.
Sure, now that poisons will not be lost when zoneing will help some, but over the months, this little thing gets annoying.

I can't say, sorry. I was mostly messing around on my mage and warrior. I'll check sometime later today if I get time to log on the PTR.

You sure it is a bug ? Bongos has built-in bar switching based on stance, i think it switches bar 1 with bar 7 for stealth, maybe you have bar 7 disabled ? Also you can disable this feature.

Is there any way to set up Bongos to keybind mouse thumb buttons? I have a multi button mouse and use the normal one for my Dark Pact and the smaller one for Life Tap, but I had to go through Blizzards keybinding to do the DP and couldn't bind hte LT at all.

Since Nurfed's Beta version doesn't have action bars, I tried a few different ones last night and settled on Ackbar until the buttons are in Nurfed. I loved the keybinding functionality of Ackbar.

Since WoWAce was down, wasn't able to locate a square minimap mod or something like Buffalo.

Keybinds for bongos are all done through the Key Bindings menu option. So, any key you can set to the default interface, you can set to bongos.

I use middle mouse for mounting and dismounting, since my mouse is primarily a targetting/movement device for me.
