Firstly, in redoing my UI with ag_UnitFrames, I now have no use for the standard Blizzard buff icons. What is the quickest, smallest, and easiest way to hide them?

Secondly, as a newbie mage, besides DrDamage, what are some essential mage-related AddOns?

Thanks peeps!

I'd want to get a confirmation on memory usage, but I always use Discord's Frame Modifier for these tasks. Here's the link: http://discord.tetzfiles.com/

On the left, it lists all the frames, organized by type, and you can hide them individually.

edit: finally smaller more manageable threads :), we have a new forum now, so might as well spread out.

edit2: I can't find a thorough synopsis for DrDamage, but does it update damage on tooltips? all I've seen is that it edits "buttons*

edit3: duurrr, it's in the UI2.0 thread: http://www.wowace.com/wiki/DrDamage

Buffalo lets you customize the default Blizzard buff displays:

* Moving
* Padding
* Layout
* Scaling
* Hiding the buff buttons per category (buffs, debuffs, weapon buffs)
* More buff icons (32 buffs, 16 debuffs)
* Verbose timers (HH:MM or MM:SS)

The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.

Anything with Discord in the addon name can pretty much be counted on to be a memory hog.

You might try Buffalo http://www.wowace.com/files/Buffalo/Buffalo-r24506.zip to hide the default stuff.
And then perhaps use BuffMe http://www.wowace.com/files/BuffMe/BuffMe-r18989.zip to alert you when you have *missing* buffs only.

Two years as a mage player and I think the most important thing for me was:

-some sort of cooldown timer, while most say it's required no matter the class I'd say as a mage it's doubly so because of the GCD and your overall squishiness
-Autobar for water/food/mana gem holding
-There was some FuBar mod for handing out your food/water that I don't remember off-hand, mainly good for grouping or if you don't eventually use an Arcanum/Henge like mod.

Otherwise I'd say you end up using the standard fair of mods like every other class does.

I am using DrDamage right now, but it shows my hit as being 99% no matter what gear I put on - as a result I am unable to compare the relative values of hit, crit, and +dmg. What am I doing wrong?

not targetting a lvl 73 (think theres an option to force it to check against a lvl 73 but i don't have it infront of me atm to check)

I find Cryolysis invaluable for putting 25+ abilities or things I would have cluttering my bars in one organized place.

The author discontinued updating it at expansion for a bit, and it was horrible having to get two+ additional bars for the abilities it held. Luckily the mage community has revived it and recoded it in Ace.

Clique for decursing purposes (combined with any compatible raidframes), and I would have a hard time surviving without some kind of mod (SpellWatch, NECB, etc.) that tracks things like poly/nova/fire vuln times.
