Original Post:

Ok... so I'm not gonna individually respond to everyone who decided to bitch at me... I'll just say this...
My original post was spoken from a mildy sarcastic point of view and it seems everyone took it extremely literally.
Second, taking farming of any sort out of the game, or changing current mechanics so that farming becomes unnecessary will change the way things work so much that everyone will have access to anything they want, be it consumables, gear, whatever... which is where my argument for removing all forms of farming came from, and in turn my comparison to a communistic way of thinking.
Third, I think that farming is a necessity because it separates the casual players from the hardcore players and gives an incentive to people who put in the extra effort to farm the things they want (or want to use, in the case of consumables)
Fourth, yes, I've read the post that Gurthok made, in fact I alluded to it in my original post. While the evidence is compelling I really don't care if consumables are overpowered. I like them, I use them, and I happily farm them.
Fifth, I do understand that WoW is a game and as such it shouldn't feel like "work". However, being as WoW is in many ways a microcosm of real life there are always going to be things that people don't enjoy doing. Faction grinding is a good example. But they do these things for a reason, they is always a payoff at the end. Farming consumables, while tedious and boring, is something that you can do to help get ahead.
Lastly, I find it interesting that everyone is in such an uproar of this issue. These consumables are readily available to everyone in the game, so why not take advantage of them? The only reason I can see for a change is to satisfy all the people who either don't have time to farm them or don't want to farm them. In fact, the use of consumables is pretty much restricted as it is due to these factors. And really having a mechanic that limits their usage helps only those people who don't want to farm for them and hurts all the people who willing farm materials in order to use them.
At it's most base level this argument comes down to "You have more time to play (farm) than I do and therefore I want Blizzard to limit your benefit from being able to play (farm) more so that we can in some way be more equal..."
No one likes farming, but we do it. And when I think about the benefits I'll receive from my tedious hours of farming I look back and don't really harbor any ill feelings towards the entire "farming experience".
Whatever... I like consumables, I use them regularly, I will happily farm the materials, and I would be really pissed if Blizzard made it so that I couldn't use whatever I wanted to use merely because a population of players flat out don't like the farming process involved with using consumables.
