i wanted to add one thing about the weapons speed issue reffering to how our shots seems to be based on weapon damage, and the confrontations between slower crossbows and faster bows:
some time ago a rogue friend of mine trashed and higher level dagger for his old one, despite the lower maximal damage of the latter, i asked him why, he's quite a seasoned rogue raider, so i figure i can pretty much trust him, here's his answer: "this dagger has an higher maximal, i saw some really high crits from mutilate, but, as you can see, the minimum damage also is quite lower than my previous weapon, resulting in higher strikes, as well as in way lower strikes, depending on damage roll table, i noticed a slight dps loss, and, i don't really like to rely on luck to do a fair dps"
if i'm not mistaken, muti is weapon damage based, like our shots now, this could mean that speed is indicative, but what really matter are the minimum and maximum damage range of the weapon, to make up an example:
Weapon 1: damage range: 750-1000
Weapon 2: damage range: 500-1100
the second weapon would grant a net 100 maximal damage gain, and that's quite a bit, but our minimum possible damage will be lowered by 250 points, this may result in no dps gain, and perhaps, in a net loss
assuming this is true, and i still cannot be sure, (i should farm weapons with the described stats and give it a try) a weapon with an higher maximal may not be that better if we're speaking about reliabilty..
giving an example with in game weapons:
[Zod's Repeating Longbow] Zod's (Heroic): 638 - 1186 Damage
[Fal'inrush, Defender of Quel'thalas] Fal'inrush (Normal): 746 - 1120 Damage
zod's means a net maximal gain of 66 damage on our shots (and a socket), while, despite his slightly lower level, fal'inrush has a minimal damage higher (108 points)
it's clear that haste affects better slower weapons as said before, and all the speculations about that may be true, but i believe the real reason why zod's lost a bit of dps is because of the damage interval, and not directly because of the speed..
i don't have neither one of the said weapons, but someone in the previous post tested it, and this may be the reason behind it.
