"Shadowfrost" is just a playstyle with one glyph swap. It is "viable" on add or major cleaving fights but falls behind significantly on single target encounters.
I use it with a mastery stack specifically on Rhyolith heroic where there are many, many adds that need to die as quickly as possible.
