With the glyph and nightfall talent you still only have 8% chance to proc an instant shadow bolt, which might seem a lot, but in a raid situation it won't proc so often when only applied to 1 target and BoD would still outdamage it even when every tick of corruption provides a instant shadow bolt, which will never happen, and BoD has a chance to summon a guardian pet and it has a higher crit chance than your shadow bolts.
In my current gear, BoD does an average dmg of 100k+, 2 of 4 ticks crit very often, and shadow bolt has an average dmg of 12-15k non crit, that would mean you have to crit at least 4 shadow bolts to outdamage BoD and 8 non-crit shadow bolts.
