I want to propose some additions to the OP especially in the Spell Priority section.
About the priority list
The Shadowfiend is a the bottom of the list. It should be way above in priority, at least above Mind Flay (that can be spammed and such you'd never actually end up casting Shadowfiend).
I also think Archangel should be above Mind Blast with no orbs and above SW: D
The Simulationcraft Action Priority List should be the baseline for the priority list in the OP
About the Shadowfiend:
It is worth mentioning that when summoning a pet like the Shadowfiend it takes a snapshot of the caster's stats when casting. And maintains the same stats throughout its duration.
So, always wait for power torrent procs, synapse springs, embroidery, trinkets, heroism, potion etc BEFORE casting the Shadowfiend. For instance, if u cast Shadowfiend and then 1 sec later heroism is popped, the Shadowfiend will not benefit from heroism at all.
About Mind Sear and Mind Flay
As Loot just pointed out, these are considered DoTs and can/should be clipped (recast same spell before it finishes channeling).
Also MF is affected by both Empowered Shadow and Dark Evangelism while
MS is only affected by Empowered Shadow, not by Dark Evangelism (at least this is how it was the last time I checked, can anyone confirm?). Bottom line is that while spamming MS, Empowered Shadow should be up.
Someone had mentioned earlier in this thread that now, Mind Sear if targeting an enemy, it will also damage that target (can anyone confirm?)
About the best opener
DoTs and MF benefit from Empowered Shadow and from Dark Evangelism. So, make sure you have both of these up before going to the normal rotation.
For instance, in heroics, if you have an orb from the previous fight the best opener would be:
(- maybe even start with SW: P to get the 10% MF boost + possible additional orbs)
- MF, clip last MF tick with a new MF. This will get you 5 MF ticks = 5 stacks of Dark Evangelism
- MB with the orbs from before the fight. This will give you Empowered Shadows
- DoTs since both ES and DE are up
- normal rotation
You might be tempted to start with MB + DoTs but this would not give you Dark Evangelism right from the start.
The difference might be small but my point is to highlight the interaction of DoTs with ES and DE.
