"I guess I'll explain a bit, my guild was just letting me cheese meters to celebrate picking up the staff and have some fun with. Shooting for WoL parses isn't always the best thing for your guild so I don't do it much but this week was an exception. I was joking the week before that after getting the staff and tier 12 legs I could probably push my dps from 34k up to 40k on Baleroc, so they started throwing every buff they could at me to see if I could do it (even things like DI that an Arcane Mage should never have) and let me stand in one spot the whole fight (we usually move back and forth between two markers, which aside from gear was probably the biggest reason my dps shot up there this week.) I also didn't get any links and had no shards spawn on me which was just good rng. Had I been given the same treatment last week and not had to move I think I could have finished around 38k or so, but yes the staff is very overpowered and adds I would say about 5k give or take depending on your rng.
On Alysrazor my dps change had more to do with a rotation change than the staff, I'll let people figure that out for themselves but if you're good with world of logs it should be easy to spot (hint: look at fireballs cast vs pyroblasts.) One of our wipes I was on track to finish around 200k. Our DKs also gripped Clawshapers in this week so I could spread Combustion to them which adds a ton of dps.
On Shannox I've never been able to really focus on dps there because I was always the main kiter, but other people did it this week to let me have some fun and turret.
Beth'tilac I usually do pretty well on, I'm not sure why someone would say I have no top 50 parses because I had the world #1 mage parse there a few weeks back, maybe it wasn't top 50 for other specs I have no idea. If you want an accurate comparison of how much gear helps, add Dragonwrath, tier 12 legs and the rep ring plus power infusions, I did everything else about the same on previous week's Beth'tilac fights.
Majordomo I usually do a 2 person orb soaking rotation with a shadowpriest of ours, but this week I got to skip a round of soaking (sort of, I think I took one tick.) I wasn't actually trying to get a good parse there because we sometimes struggle and wipe a bit there.
Rhyolith I don't think I changed much this week either, I was around 30-40th on the list for mages and am somewhere in the top 10 now I think just because of the gear but I wasn't trying for any crazy parse there."
