I doubt that very much as they would have just increased Guardian time uniformly with lets say 30 secs to all specs as the longer Guardian in Demo is a talent selection and at this stage a demo Guardian last 20 secs more if the neccesary talents are selected. So by changing Affl/Destro to an extra 45 sec Guardian time their guardians will then last for 10 secs longer if what you suggested is true.

This change will bring demo in line with affliction.

You do realise how insanely the Doomguard scales as Demonology compared to other specs right?

The difference also compensates for the effect of Ancient Grimore, if it wasn't for them affecting the duration differently across specs then AG would have skewed the set bonus even more in Demonologies favour. The only reason for Blizzard to do something as clunky as different durations for different specs is to balance the gain across specs. Not heavily favour one. It will be a 15 second duration for Demonology and a 45 for the others.
