Post: Pacing the Release of Raid Content

The post was hard to read, and once I did, I regretted it
Original Post:
Skill should always be a factor, but there should become a point where you simply have to have the gear.
I like it, as is.

No more idiots played by their gear any more please.

I love for skill to play a key role now.

Weeds off the worthless and lazy very fast, it's what you want to achieve some results without feeding legions of lazy bums.

Surely Blizzard has a few more raid design tricks up their sleeves that would make Nihilum et al scratch their heads for a bit.
Believe it or not, Magtheridon is not a private server with personal content served.

Blizzard have to balance difficulty so that a fair share of player base can enjoy it, not just 5 guilds in the world.

I am ready to bet that by the end of the year, a still minimal number of guilds (compared to the world wide numbers) will have seen up to Illidan.

I play games like this one because I like to be challenged. It's nice to compete for first kills on things, but in the end, I care more about having fun playing the game than anything else. Honestly, at this point, I don't care about the SSC/TK nerfs
You look like you chose the wrong game. WoW is an intro to MMORPGs not the "challenge" prototype. You might play a "mature" MMO with 100k player base if such challenge is what you prefer over a game for 8M player base.

At least we'd have expected a very steep learning curve and maybe a hefty gear check when facing the self-proclaimed ruler of Outland.
Magtheridon too would be such a big bad boy, yet you farm him on alts while watching TV, amirite?

Whats the point of getting BT gear if you can clear the zone without any of it? Leveling for the next expansion? :P
What did you do once your Naxx set was complete pre-TBC?

I want to zone into the next tier zone and get my face smashed off because my gear isn't good enough and have to upgrade my gear before I stand a chance.
It's easy for you to want that. Imagine people not playing warriors. With shared tier drops some classes would be a drain as they have lower priority and then the whole guild would be stalled.

Plus, to achieve a true gear check you need to make the next tier imba compared to the previous. Like pre-TBC.

The same pre-TBC where warriors were the gods in game of course so it felt fine being one with those "rules". But now it's changed a bit.

The truth is that the counted vials were the "guild stopper" but Blizzard had to remove that due to outcry.

In their place I'd have increased the vials but still dropped few enough to assure 3 raid locks were required at minimum.

If anything, TBC raiding has shown Blizzard has taken the raiders cry of "We want skill based encounters!' and run with it. And much to many raiders dismay, it turns out there really are guilds skilled enough and dedicated enough to pull ahead of the pack. Its a bitter pill to swallow knowing you thought you could hang with the best, till the best decide to show just how good they really are.
Quoted for truth.

No more imbeciles that, likewise for rank 14 PvP grinding, just spent months to achieve gear playing for them and passing "gear checks" for them.

I agree, it's scary and nasty on them now to see they have to compete with skill.

Having them kill him in half T4/half T5 is maybe too low, that's 1.5 tiers lower than where we could be at full T6, maybe it's half a tier too low, but I don't think it's ludicrously low.
There's not such a thing like "too low" in TBC. My crafted gloves are better than T4. My T4 rivals with T5. My blue, quested wrists are used since ever and forever.

And if content is supposed to be casual and accessible, why are Maulgar, Gruul and Hydross sitting at the forefront?
Why, is Maulgar really harder to do than Moroes in Karazhan?
Is the nerfed Gruul any different than Broodlord, just with a timer on damage vs on tanks threat drop?

Why is Hydross avoidable so you can start with other bosses and leave it as 3rd or 4th?

The problem is that attempting Black Temple/Hyjal in SSC/TK gear should be at minimum just as difficult as attempting SSC/TK gear with Karazhan gear.
Maybe at Blizzard they decided to take a bit of freedom and recalled we don't play Space Invaders any more (each level mechanically and predictably harder than the previous).

Maybe at Blizzard they willingly decided to make some fights "strange" and easier than expected because... they can.

And maybe they are monitoring how guilds approach BT to re-balance it later on for the other guilds, including buffing "too weak" bosses.
With one guild killing Illidan it's not like they have fully "beta tested" BT for everyone.

Summary: some guilds have the game on farm.
The thread is really done with this simple truth.

Did anyone even come here and confiently post when broodlord/huhuran/gluth would die? Now, people are saying when the final boss of the tier 5 content will be killed, and I am sure that they are correct.
Half of those tier 5 farmers will log on soon and try the nerfed Aran for the 18th time again.

Uh, and hi Flank. You are missed. A lot.
