Hi, my first post on rogues here.
I searched the forums for this, but couldnt find any answer to my satisfaction.
My question is related to Tricks of the Trade.
To get things out of the way, i intent to use the abillity for dps purpose only, nearly on cd and favor our shadow priest or arcane mage depending on the fight.
So as i understand the buff will increase the damage dealt by the target by 15%(10% if glyphed) for 6 seconds.
Now back in Wotlk if shadowpriests recast Shadow word pain Shadow Word: Pain and Hunters apply Serpent Sting Serpent Sting, the dots you have the 15% dmg increase for thier full duration and since the can refresh then with other abillitys (Chimera shot and Mindflay).
As is understand this has changed at some point witch i can't remember when.
Now what i want to know assuming the obove is true is, when a shadow priest gains my tricks of the trade buff there are 3 possibile ways Tricks mechanic can work:
1. Dot ticks and Casts, that land under the buff will deal 15% more dmg.
2. Dot ticks and Casts, that land under the buff will deal 15% more dmg, and Dot ticks from dots that were refreshed or recast under the buff will deal 15% more dmg for the duration of the debuff, or untill the debuff is refreshed or recast
3.Casts, that land under the buff will deal 15% more dmg, and Dot ticks from dots that were refreshed or recast under the buff will deal 15% more dmg for the duration of the debuff, or untill the debuff is refreshed or recast
I personaly think 2 ist the most unlikely one to be true, while im completely unsure about statement 1 and 3.
I know this is a hard question to answer and i guess most of you can only answer to ther best knowlledge, but if someone had any Patchnotes or tests that could proof witch of the statements were true, i would realy apreciate it.
And finaly to all whom are wondering why i would als such a thing. It is not (only) to optimize dmg of the raid, but to simply have the knowledge of this manner. I feed nosy and its killing me wondering about it so i first tried to test it myself but after i dint find patient tricks targets for testing i'd like your insight.
