You don't have to know the theory behind why things work the way they do. But you do have to be aware of the tools such as simulationcraft that other people have worked hard to create for you. These people do know the theory, and have done all the work for you. All we're asking is for you to use the tools they created.
Further, this isn't a help desk. While you might not consider yourself a math nerd, most of us here do consider ourselves such. We have discussions where we dig into the how and why of things. You might not be able or willing to contribute anything meaningful to those discussions, but you are able to read them.
Running a simulation, and reading the work of other, smarter people isn't onerous. You can do it!
Now with all that said, this would likely have been a friendly PM to you, with much gentler wording. Disputing an infraction, and asking for clarification, are both welcome. Most people who respond to a warning or infraction are much more polite than you though. Just as in the rest of life, courtesy is rewarded in kind here. Your failure to treat Internet communication as society expects you to treat other communication means that this is instead a public reprimand.
A couple of final notes:
- While this isn't a public post and therefore not directly subject to our posting rules, please review rule 1, and avoid chat-speak abbreviations and ellipses in the future.
- If you see a post that breaks our rules, please report it. Reports submitted by users like you help the moderating team to do our job.
