How many ways can you say the same thing? Enough already. We get it. You researched your class before choosing.
Also, people aren't the idiots you make them out to be because their racial abilities turned out the be shit, so you can drop that little troll while you're at it.

Honestly, it sounds to me like you're defending the difference in racials for all the wrong reasons. You argue that the good players have chosen their race solely based on PvP-racials back in 2005. And even when confronted with hard evidence that racials have been changed, multiple times, you still hold onto that notion. The shadowmelded hunters were king long before Arena was on the table. At that time, did you also believe that the skilled people chose Night elves because of this. And if so, did they suddenly become non-skilled when it was nerfed? In my years as an orc, I've apparently gone from totally clueless, to insanely skilled, and then mediocre, all in the light of racial changes. Back in '05, when you made your character... are you saying that you knew fear would play such a large part in the PvP-game more than two years after you set your tiny level 1 feet in Azeroth? Yeah, I doubt that very much.
You argue because you realize that you have one of the best racials you can have in an arena, and you don't want to lose that advantage. Simple as that. Others argue that racials should be a flavour of your chosen class, not the deciding factor. Personally, I follow that line of thought (hey, I rolled an orc rogue and got laughed at by many... until Bloodfury).

I already stated that Night Elf Hunters were medioce at best, the best ranged weapon in the game at the time was a Crossbow Bow of Smiting which as I already stated, was only a 2-3k opening at the time when it was possible to get 5.5-6k HP, so it was no problem for the people who were prepared for PVP.
As for the Night Elf, I'm pretty sure that if I was reading the race descriptions at the time, I wouldn't have picked a Night Elf knowing their key racial was to go 'invisible' when the class you was going to choose already had that as their fundamental feature anyway.
Anyways, are the racials balanced in this game? Quite clearly not for PVP purposes. Do they need fixing though? In my opinion, not really, as the majority of the people who complain are the people who were moronic enough to pick Trolls / Humans / Night Elves in the first place and planned to compete at an equal level to those people who sacrificed PVE racials in order to perform better in PVP.
As for the decision I made when I made my Undead Priest, there was enough information on Day 1 to determine my race for my priest, because it came down simply to this:
Do I want to roll a stupid looking character who can cast faster every so often or do I want to roll a decent looking character who has an ability which stops opponents controlling him.
And to put it quite simply, it was basically this obvious for all races on day 1.
