The letter 'i', when serving as a pronoun, is supposed to be capitalized. It's a small thing, yes, but it really would make your post more readable.

Original Post:

The JoW issue was brought up 2-3 weeks back on our guild forums. We consistently run with the same three paladins, and none of us are focused on judging a boss for more than a minute of any given fight.
our class leader sat down and did some math (which I'm talking for granted here, so if its wrong attack her!), it came out to 418 mana. If you were to judge every time JoW fell off the boss, it comes out to 12,540 mana during a ten minute fight. So of course the first solution to come to mind is to just whack the boss every 15 seconds to refresh it. The numerous melle unfriendly encounters have all been listed throughout this thread, so there's not much point in reading those off again. However what i didn't see mentioned was that no holy paladin is going to have any hit gear on during a boss encounter, which means you'll inevitably get some misses which in a best case scenario only means you have to sit there and auto swing one more time, but most likely the judgment will drop off, forcing you to rejudge, the entire time healing nothing.
Our guild tends to run dps heavy/healer light (first karathress kill was 7 healers). So having a healer spend 1/4 to 1/3 of their time judging isn't a very good idea. personally i would love to see the lasting judgment talent brought back into the talent tree. However the most noteworthy point i got from cromfels post was that doing so really would kill the idea of ret paladins in raids. We don't raid with one, i have never raided with one, and i haven't played the spec for more than A week combined. So of course I don't like the spec much, and also don't understand it, or its potential in raids much more than any other class. If the true intention with ret paladins is to make them raid viable as a primary support class and secondary dps class then this would be a great way to get retribution further to that goal
Sorry for the rambling (this is actually my first post so I'm a bit giddy). What i really came here to share was our WWS for the past two weeks. Like i said i've been doing everything i can in raids to keep JoW up on boss encounters. The best examples will always be tidewalker and lurker. I'd specifically link the encounters here but i think the wws site is currently down so i'll have to edit this tomorrow and point out the specific encounter. For now our guild page is Stoic and the wws link is underneath the guild information tab on the left. Edit: here's the best example of judging, i'd say the boss had it roughly 2/3 of the time people were single targeting him. since it's an aoe fight the best classes to look at are our two hunters and one enhancement shaman (roonecaster)
Wow Web Stats
after two weeks of frantically trying to judge every boss and at the same time keep our 8k health mages alive (8k health, i kid you not for karathress, vashj, and solarion) I've personally decided its just not worth it. The amount of time i spend running to and from the boss, or focusing more on my judgment timer than the tanks health bar makes me much less effective than a shadow priest. Untill something changes Nihilum has it right, 5 mana priests
