In the past we used 1, and now we had to have several healers on the job, not to mention the tanks and their healers getting dooms. We had 1 wipe on him before we killed him, and what both attempts had in common was a feeling of being overrun by doomguards as an effect of tanks/healers dying.
Any other guilds think he was harder, or did we just had an unlucky night/playing bad?

melee on doomguards? do you mean your dps warriors and rogues dps the doomguards down? if thats the case i think you are totally destroying the concept of using common sense. why would you use melee on a mob that does aoe dmg warstomp.
we 1 shot him tonight and didnt notice any difference from the previous kills apart from the usual spam of ROF on taurens/thrall/melee grp which results in 20-30% dps loss having to run out of it or using fire pots
azgalor is not any harder or any easier before 2.2 he is just another one of those fights where you need your healers and everyone in the raid to be on the ball due to the silence/ROF for melee and the raid
the ppl with doom dying near the offtanks so the doomguard doesnt go loose and start killing the healers before the OT picks him up
but im still puzzled why you would use your melee group on the doomguards.dpsing down azgalor is much more important than killing the doomguards.the faster he goes down the less people you will have getting doom and spawning doomguards
